Difficult against this bullpen, though not impossible. It’s the Yankees lineup, however, that makes the competitive against any team. There’s no pitching staff in baseball that wants to face the Yankees lineup. Ditto the Dodgers when they’re on their game and working pitch counts and trusting the guy at the plate to drive in runs.
That’s what scares me.
Yes!
Game 5 coming up
Especially when Betances is channeling Nuke LaLoosh. Fortunately Girardi gave him the hook before he hit someone in the stands.
Ah, Dodgers win. And we even stayed out of the pool.
It’s official: the Dodgers are scary again. That was an impressive win over the D-backs and I honestly didn’t think they had it in them after their late-season swoon. But they’re indeed a very solid team and they’re back to playing at the top of their game. I don’t think the Cubs or Nationals can beat the Dodgers if they play like they did the last three games, but baseball’s a weird sport, so who knows…
Yeah, Roberts said earlier yesterday that Pool Party Part Deux was NOT going to happen, for which I commend him.
Against my will, I stayed up to watch the game (ended at 1:44AM by my count), and I’m hating life a little bit today. But I’ve still got a smile on my face.
As to the Indians…well, I still think they’re going to pull off the win in Game 5. Kluber is not going to have another outing like he had in Game 2. My WAG is that the Indians break out the offense and end up winning 7-1 tomorrow. (Please please…)
Any guesses as to how pissed off Max Scherzer is today?
Hm, looks like the Cubs are still playing at 4:30 today. Weird, but convenient for me personally. Anyway, tepid and insincere congratulations to the Dodgers.
Boy, does someone at FS1 have a man-crush on Todd Frazier or what? Seems like he got ten times the screen time of anyone else last night.
Yankees should be getting ready to fly to Houston and not Cleveland after getting stiffed by the umps in game 2. The bullpen will be fresh and rested and if Judge can avoid striking out four times the Yanks have a good chance.
Well it didn’t hurt that the pool was guarded by cops on horseback.
FS1 announcing crew for the record is pretty awful. Smoltz’s partner is from the Joe Morgan “Moron and State the Obvious and the non-existent” school of baseball coverage. Smoltz would probably be fine if not saddled with an idiot.
At least we are safe from looking forward to Tim McCarver working the World Series.
Weird that they didn’t shift it earlier to try to duck the rain; the forecast is like 90% heavy rain by early-mid afternoon, carrying on through the night.
Speaking of Todd Frazier, the biggest surprise last night was the run he scored on the short fly ball. I was sure he would be out.
The Indians have beaten the Yankees in the ALDS in 1997 and 2007…it’s time to break the curse of the 7!
All of the “analysts” and “play by play” people in all the playoff games are pretty sorry this year. When I turned on the Cubs/Nats game I was so excited to hear Ernie Johnson, an actual broadcaster who pays attention to the game and tells me what’s going on instead of what he had for dinner that I was even able to overlook the Darling’s stupidity for a little while. If you thought Darling was bad apparently you missed Pierzynski on the Astros’ games.
Pierzynski and Cone are both moderately to completely intolerable, but I am somewhat fond of Joe Davis (who also does TV play-by-play for the Dodgers). He’s not amazing or anything, but for a guy so ridiculously young, he has a pretty good grasp of the game. And compared to his “help” in the playoff booth…
Three down eight more to go.
You aren’t the only one. Ballsy move by the 3rd base coach. But I do like the idea of forcing the other team to make the play and the Indians didn’t.
Cubs delayed. Yes, it’s dark out there, but it isn’t raining. Thankfully, I’m sure tv ratings have nothing to do with the decision

I read a tweet from Gordon Wittmeyer that pointed out that, had the game been scheduled to start at 130, they would have had 4 rain-free hours to get the game in.
The delay favors the Nationals. Instead of Roark pitching, they get Strasburg on normal rest.
