MLB Playoffs 2026 (incl. World Series)

Phils win 4-3. Deciding game tomorrow.

White Sox with an early 4-1 lead over the Astros, bottom of the second.

Very much in character for the Cheat-stro’s, setting a moving pick between the White Sox catcher and the dropped strike three.

Astros are almost gone.

Yanks will try to end Boston’s season in minutes.

And, now, they are.

This is the first time that the White Sox have won a playoff series since 2005, when they were World Series champions. Ironically, in that WS, they also beat the Astros (who were then in the NL).

Yanks got Sonny Grey out in only 4 & 2/3. 2 men on are Grey’s.

Erik Miller just choked again, Yanks now up 2-0.

I’m liking Miller.

And 3rd base coach just waved us out of the inning.

The White Sox are on track to sweep their way through the playoffs and the world series!

Stick a fork in the Red Sox.

Gladly.

And that rally was against their best reliever.

9 more outs though.

8 more.

Good hustle on Jones to beat out the throw to first on the strikeout. A lot of guys would just trot.

Only 2 poor plays by Yanks. Grisham was lazy on a hit to center and played it into a double, and the 3rd base coach waved us out of the inning.

Otherwise lots of good stuff, lots of 2 strike hits or at least balls put in play.

Also no dumbasses slow walking a solo homer while they’re behind and facing elimination.

WTF was up with Contreras?

Crap, Cubs down 2 already, looking bad for them.

And the Yankees Win!

The biggest surprise of that two game set was the 21 singles hit by the Yanks. It was like watching games from 30 or 40 years ago. I miss that kind of baseball.

I don’t want to kick someone when they’re down, but I was wondering what was up with Sonny Gray’s neck last night. This is kind of blatant. Why didn’t Boone say anything to the umps?

Yanks had a team .382 average with a 1.010 Ops. Even got 4 steals and none caught.

Pitching line had a 1.00 ERA and .56 Whip. 19Ks vs 3BB. San Diego was sharper, but damn impressive.

The Red Sox had a 10.13 ERA and 2.13 Whip. 14ks vs 8 walks.

Nothing went right for the Sox. Last time we faced Tolle, he pitched 7 shutout innings. Last time we faced Gray, he pitched 7.1 shutout innings.

It looks like the rivalry is back. Boston has a lot of talent and you know they’ll beef up the offense in the offseason.

It must be time for this thread:

And this one:

Here’s last night’s box score from the Yanks/BoSox game. Garrett Crochet of the Sox had a forgettable pitching line:

0.0 innings pitched
3 hits
4 runs, all earned
No walks, 1 strikeout, no home runs allowed
1 Wild pitch
ERA: INF

(That’s an earned-run average of infinite)

He recorded a strikeout, but the batter made it to first base because the pitch was a wild pitch.

In his defense, he left having allowed only one run. But he left the bases loaded and all three baserunners eventually scored.

Oops, wrong thread, sorry.

Seemed to me that the Red Sox took a big gamble and lost putting Crochet on the mound after not playing for so long. I could see it in a regular season game, not in a post-season elimination game. With the 3 batter minimum, they were unable to give Crochet the hook until the game got away from them.
