If Peavy doesn’t lose the strike zone in the middle of an inning, this game’s a lot closer.
Reggie Sanders cranked that grand slam, though. That was a tape-measure shot.

I haven’t been keeping up with baseball as much as I would have liked to because of work, but here’s what I’ve got:
Cards vs. Pods: Cards in 3, complete blow out and slugfest (and no, I haven’t watched today’s game).
‘stros vs. Braves: I like Houston and have been a Houston fan for a long, long time. I even have the 80’s jersey (best jersey ever, imo, Chicago SOX jeresey is a close second). Anyway, Houston pitching is just too strong, but it will be close because Braves’ bats are too strong. Houston in 5 (Braves, though, if 7)
Halos vs. Yanks: I have to go with the Halos. Yank D is weak, and Angel pitching is too strong. However, this can really go either way, so my nod to the Halos is very tenuous. Both are hot right now. If it were 7, I would have to give it to the Yanks, even with Colon pitching twice.
Chi-Sox v. Carmines: You can put it on the board…YES! Why no love for Chi-town? I think the W.Sox have shown that they can put it together with the lineup they had against the Tribe last weekend, with almost all the starters on the bench. W.Sox bats are picked to click this postseason. I’ll stop with the Hawk and DJ references because I really do find them mostly annoying (Ed and John any day). Boston is very hittable, though Manny and Big Popi scare me; limit the scoring to just those two, and only those two, and Chicago is a winner for sure. W.Sox starters can all go deep into the count and into the innings. However, BoSox still have some magic, it seems. I’ll say White Sox in 4 (pitching beats hitting any day), close games either way.
Cards v. Houston = pitching duels of epic performance. Cards eek it out in the end, Cards in 6.
Sox v. Angels: Ugh, the stats tell me Angels, my gut and heart tell me Chicago. I’m going against history here (it seems the AL West pwns Chicago) and picking Chicago. West Coast can claim they can take it to the Sox during the regular season. If Yanks beat the Halos, then definitely Chicago. No reason, but I also have no doubt in my mind. Sox in 7.
Cards v. Sox: I’m with zamboniracer! Anything to annoy the denziens of that overrated beer garden they call Wrigley Field. Seriously, though, I’m not sure. Both teams have displayed weakness, but I think Sox pitching will win it out in the end. Though, the scores of the games are going to be slugfests royalle. Where’s the Big Hurt when you need him? Sox in 7. [Cue Johnny Drama] VICTORY!
Off to a good start for the pale hose.
Just popping in to say that I’m liking the team in booth for the Sox game. I couldn’t watch the previous game because Miller and Morgan (retard) are worse than nails on a chalkboard. Now we’ve got Berman, Sutcliffe and Piazza. What a great combo so far. I’ve been especially impressed with Piazza’s commentary, I’m enjoying him and I think he gives a good perspective. Having a catcher, a picther and a TV guy in the booth together provides for a pretty good trio. Plus there’s not apparent bias for any of them, I like it.
Boston is getting their teeth kicked in.
Ah, someone after my own heart. I’m giddy with anticipation that neurotic Cub fans may finally implode en masse.
Go White Sox!
Here’s the thing. I’ve never hated the Sox. I grew up liking the players and watching both the Cubs and the Sox often. But then I got old enough to go to games. Then to go to bars and games myself and realized that I fucking despise Sox fans.
I’ve generally always thought the Sox had players that were fun to root for. Was a huge Ventura fan, loved Ozzie and Fisk. Liked Thigpen, Black Jack, Baines, Kittle and Walker way back in the day. This team is wonderful, Podsednik and Konerko are fun guys. They have several unhearalded guys who play the game right.
But then as I watch this thumping they are putting on the Carmines, I’m left hating the fact that Sox fans are enjoying themselves. I’ll have to tolerate their obnoxiousness and their piss-poor sportmanship. I can just hear the fair-weather fans piling on the bandwagon now.
After watching the first 2 games, this is liable to be a really unpleasant postseason.
Well, Cleveland until a week ago.
The only problem I have with the ChiSox is their horrific announcers. No matter how much Fox may suck, at least they aren’t as bad as the Sox announcers.
So, er, go Angels! Go Pale Hose! Don’t suck!
Don’t give a damn about the NL. Never have.
Hahahahah! A-Rod gets drilled. I enjoyed that. Of course, it’s probably going to bite the Angels in the butt in a minute.
14-2 is a VERY good start.
Man I have watched a lot of Astros games in the past year. And to all of you picking the Astros, it warms my heart. Really does. But this team is one of the most frustrating, anemic offensive teams I have ever seen. I pick Braves in 4 or 5.
Others – WhiSox, Yankees, Cards. Yankees and Cards win division series and the World Series is as boring as ever, forcing me to root for the nemesis Cards over the Pinstripe Curtain. Although you can never predict these things ever. Baseball wild-cards tend to do pretty well, and there has been some excellent postseason baseball in the last few years.
