Closer? What closer?
Helluva game in Cleveland.
Closer? What closer?
Helluva game in Cleveland.
What, no runner on 2nd in extra innings? It could go on all night.
Now Cleveland has runner on 3rd, 2 outs. Walkoff HR!!!
You know what, I don’t begrudge Cleveland this win one bit.
Clase not exactly tearing it up in the playoffs, but man, if you come back against him, you sure don’t wanna then blow the game yourself.
Man, you can say it’s just one game but I think the Yankee bullpen is more exposed and overworked than Cleveland’s. Maybe this series will go seven games. Oof, sucky ending for us but exciting game.
Fuck.
Nope, not in the playoffs.
One helluva game in Cleveland tonight. I have no dog in this hunt, but that was great postseason baseball.
ETA: And once again a double challenge on a double play. Overturned the call at first and the Mets get a run.
Weaver: Damn. I blew a save. Maybe now I won’t be the closer anymore.
Holmes: Hold my beer.
What a roller coaster of a game. One out (one strike?) to go and it completely turned around. Good game for the Guardians.
Funny thing it was actually kind of a bad game for the Guardians. There entire way of winning is to get the ball to Clase with a lead. And he completely shat the bed. They were very fortunate to get away with that.
To have any chance in this series Cleveland absolutely can’t be giving away any more leads after the 7th inning.
That said, coming back from the dead can definitely get a team rolling. Somebody might want to tell the Mets…
I feel like the Mets know that pretty well after the last couple of weeks.
Well, hopefully, tomorrow the NL gets decided. However, the Dodgers management has a decision for next season that I wouldn’t want to be responsible for.
That is the most meaningless graph I have ever seen.
Meh. I like it fine. I didn’t watch the game, but I can see from the graph that it was pretty wild.
Undoubtedly. Unfortunately they haven’t been able to rally when falling behind against the Dodgers at all. Today would definitely be a good time to start…
I think it sums it up perfectly. Each team had a two-run lead with their closer on the mound. Each team gave up crushing HRs (back-to-back in the Guardians case) to give up the lead. That doesn’t happen very often.
Did you watch the game? One of the wildest stretches you’ll ever see in the late innings of postseason baseball, and that graph sums it up perfectly.
It was wild, but what I saw was a succession of spent relievers tossing up meatballs right over the heart of the plate, except for the Judge homer off Clase. That was an ambush on a correct guess on an outside pitch.
What is an “ambush”, anyway?
