MLB Playoffs

3 home runs in three innings, not bad.

By the way, why are these games all scheduled for 8:08 and not just a simple 8 PM?

Games never start on the hour. That is normal.

But the 8pm start is terrible.

My initial guess would be to provide space for opening comments from the broadcast team and early commercial breaks (and I suppose in earlier times account for top-of-the-hour radio news).

Meanwhile, while on non-gameplay comments, the panoramic shots of the stadium both days have showed some lovely sunsets.

Looks like all the games are scheduled to start at 8:08 ET.

With his recent ankle issues, I wasn’t really expecting much from Freeman this series. Very happy to be wrong so far.

Damn, in 6 innings the only NY hit is Soto’s solo HR.

Yamamoto has seriously improved.

And Ohtani may have just been seriously injured on that slide. [Jammed his left arm into the ground as he slid into 2nd for those not watching] CRAP.

Well, at least the Yanks finally started trying. :joy: Fingers crossed that they get their shit together in NYC on Monday!

What? They were 1 strike away from the win last night. And they were one hit away from tying the game tonight.

There was no need for Ohtani to take that risk by stealing bases.

Well, well, that was another 9th to get people’s attention, wasn’t it? Wonder if both these outfits plan on making it a habit.

Impressive outing for sure.

Holy dumbfuck. Never swing at the first pitch with bases loaded. Stupid.

Dodgers are killing this. Yankees need a home sweep for a chance.

I wonder what the recovery time is for something like that. I’m assuming we’ve seen the last of him in this series.

Freddie Freeman would disagree…

I was only referring to tonight: it was a joke about how they had all of one hit for most of the game, and finally made it interesting in the 9th.

I dont think Ohtani can continue. That back shoulder should twist when you swing to get power and then it flies forward. He can try (Ive had a similar injury) but if it just pops out again he cant continue. Also he will need surgery at some point and thats gonna affect his proposed pitching comeback.

Possibly. At least it’s not his pitching arm.

Oh. He throws right but swings left? Well thats better. He’ll still need surgery though. Otherwise something as simple as trying to catch a line drive over his head could make it pop out.

Yup:
