Bad decision by the Tigers’ third base coach. 2nd and 3rd with nobody out would have been awfully nice for them.
Seriously! Who the fuck waves in Prince Fielder?! He runs like he’s dragging a piano!
Does Fister not realize he just got beaned in the head with a line drive? I don’t know anything about him, but he’s certainly tough…
I can’t believe they didn’t sit him. For all they know he’s got a serious injury and doesn’t even know it.
ETA - hoping like hell he’s OK
Tim McCarver should not try to speak Spanish: “Pablo Sandoval knows that was a la linea…”
That’s the second time a Detroit runner was tagged out because his lead foot missed the base, and he was tagged before his trailing leg got there.
Hey, Gene Lamont is a fucking tremendous third base coach, said no one ever.
There is something “wrong” with my feed of Game 2 and I only hear the ambient sounds of the game, no announcers. It’s awesome.
The baseball gods are smiling on you.
I need this channel.
This is one amazingly inconsistent strike zone. the ump just called two strikes on Pence on pitches substantially worse than pitches called balls against Posey.
I was watching at my dad’s. He said he missed the announcers and actually liked McCarver! I didn’t think my dad was going senile… Before the announcing disappeared, I got to hear the interview with Sergio Romo, which I found entertaining.
So just how is that umpire’s name pronounced? Every time he umped a Mariners game our announcers called him “EYE-ah-SON-ga”, but the ESPN radio announcers kept pronouncing it “EYE-ah-SO-nya”.
The baseball gods are smiling on the Giants so far.
Just last week, everyone was discussing whether it was the Tigers or the Cardinals turn to win the World Series.
So far, the Giants are just getting all the breaks, and making all the defensive plays. Combine that with Detroit’s inability to generate any real offense, and it’s no surprise that the series is 2-0.
Now the Tigers gets to play 3 at home. Unfortunately for them, the Giants tied for the third best road record in the Majors this year, and have won 30 of their last 43 away from AT&T Park. And have their #1 and #2 pitchers starting the next two games.
The primary break the Giants are getting is that they’re pitching and hitting better. Pagan did get a freak double and that bunt by Scutaro stayed fair, but it’s easy to overstate the breaks.
So a recap: Giants won with good pitching and good defense, and their runs came on a double play ball and an inning of no hits. Yep, that’s the Giants.
And if Leyland has his infield playing in, that double play ball goes 4-2-3 and no runs score, and it’s a bad break for the Giants.
