I’m going to a debate watch party tonight but I hope they throw a few screens on the baseball.
10 run lead, nobody on, two out in the bottom of the ninth. I’ll relax then.
Well Yanks are down 2-0 but Severino is hopefully going to cruise a few innings now. Cole’s pitch count is up to 51 so maybe we can get him out after 6. Then hope the Yanks can beat their bullpen.
Cole manages to get through 7 scoreless innings despite not having his best stuff, and the Astros bullpen again gives up fewer runs (in fewer innings) than the Yankees pen. Astros are back on home field advantage.
The yanks had the opportunity to pick up deGrom earlier. They have a big checkbook. Why didn’t they sign him?
Im afraid it doesnt matter which of the Astros or Yankees wins. This is Washingtons year and their starting pitching will be well rested and dominant by the time the WS starts.
He wasnt a free agent
Not starting well for the Cards.
Seven pitches into the bottom of the first, and the Nats already have 2 runs in, 2 men on base, and only 1 out.
Fuck me, it’s a comedy of errors out there in the St. Louis defense. First an error by Wong to load the bases, and then a regulation pop-up drops between the fielders thanks to terrible communication between the right fielder and first base.
And now another base hit, and it’s 5-0.
See ya, Cards.
Holy fucking shit, what a first inning! And there’s still only one out. Starter gone, 5 runs in, 2 men on. Holy shit.
ETA: Hey, they managed to just barely get the out on Corbin on the sac bunt!
Cue Yakkety Sax.
Holy shit, another two runs, courtesy of a Trea Turner single!
ETA: 7-0 at the end of one inning!!
Nats Park has got to be one big party right now.
Cards look like they just want it to be over.
Can you blame them? At this point, down 3-0 in games and behind 7-0 here, they’re a dead team walking. If this wasn’t a spectator sport, they could honorably concede the game and series, and get on with their winter.
Get a dinger on the board, so it’s not a shutout and start packing up.
I’ve jinxed it, it’s my fault. The baseball gods laugh at my hubris.
Where’s Pete Kozma when you need him?
I went to my first ever ballgame at Griffith Stadium in 1958. After all the losing teams, and 34 years without baseball, to say this is gratifying is a bit of an understatement.
Congrats to the Nationals. (And the Expos).
