MLB: Post-Season 2019

Um, way to crunch the data?

This next game was always a scary one for the Astros - the Nats have a definite starting pitching advantage this time. Urquidy wasn’t bad but was very hit-or-miss in the regular season - he could throw a 7-inning shut-out against a good team one start and then give up 5 runs in 2 innings to the White Sox or Tigers the next time out.

Too bad he wasn’t loud enough to drown out the inane comments from the Fox broadcasting crew.

I have MLBtv. I opened another tab, selected Washington radio station, and shut down the audio on FOX.

Much better.

Al Pacino is now an umpire?

(Well he did play a blind alcoholic in Scent of a Woman so I guess he has experience.)

I tried this but the two broadcasts were badly out of synch. I think the radio broadcast was at least a pitch behind the TV.

Correct. The audio was 1.3 seconds before the video. So, it was different. But worth it to be Buckless.

I watched Games 1 through 3 on a cruise ship in The Bahamas, and if y’all think that Fox’s World Series coverage is bad, you should see ESPN International’s. The same four commercials over and over again. No interviews at all. The exact same introduction, modified just slightly to show highlights of the previous game. It was dreadful. At least I’m mostly happy with the game results so far.

I hate that. If you have a DVR and it’s the video that’s ahead you can sync it up pretty close with a little effort, but when it’s the audio you’re SOL.

I wonder if they do that on purpose. In the old days, we used to shut off the audio on the Celtics broadcasts so we could listen to Johnny Most, and it was synched up just right.

Well, the video always lags. You hear the ball hit the glove before you see it.

It is just more pronounced when listening to the radio broadcast.

Brand new 3-game series starts tomorrow. Great start from Urquidy.

I have alerts turned on for MLB on my phone and I always get the alert a few seconds before the event when listening to the radio broadcast.

Can’t believe the Nats beat the Astros’ aces, but got shut down by the rest of the staff.

My emphasis.

That part sounds very nice to me. In-game and post-game interviews are, in my opinion, completely pointless and annoying.

Yeah, I figured after beating Cole and Verlander they were sitting pretty, but that’s baseball.

You and many others.

Now they get the chance to do it again.

Two on base, two outs. Posible rally. And on a close play at first, Turner slides into first base? That guy can fly!

Don’t understand the slide.

I’m worried the Nats have postponed their usual post-season choke from the NLDS to the WS.

Holy crap, Scherzer woke up with massive neck pain and can’t pitch.
