I say this in all seriousness: The reason I have an anxiety disorder is the Pittsburgh Pirates absolute choking in the postseason.
Not to be a sore (still 4 innings left!) loser, but damn, Arrietta gets 6 inches off of each side of the fucking plate and Cole doesn’t get shit
I have no dog in this fight, but my wife and I are sitting here marveling at the strike [del]zone[/del] county.
Cards fan here. Just seeing who we’re going to play. I haven’t really paid attention to baseball this season at all. The major thing I have noticed is that virtually no one is batting over .300. Is pitching that much better this year or is hitting just lax in the NL central?
Nothing against Pirates’ fans, but Pittsburgh absolutely deserves to lose for hitting the freaking pitcher in the seventh inning of a one-game playoff game that’s still winnable. Throw your silly temper tantrum some other time.
Bullshit. Arrieta is a fucking piece of headhunting trash
I do, by the way agree with the strike zone thing.
Who gives a shit? You just handed the other team a free baserunner who would otherwise be a free out, in the seventh inning of a playoff game. That would be stupid if it was Pol Pot on the mound. As it turned out, it didn’t hurt them, but a team that prioritizes retaliation over maximizing its chances to actually win the game deserves to go home.
Yup. The cubs did the same to us not that long ago. Hit us twice and when someone lobbed one at one of theirs, the crying started. “What did we do to deserve that?”
I’m looking forward to a best of five with the cubs. Should be intense.
It was pretty obvious that the first batter was not intentionally hit by Arietta. I missed the second one. But throwing at the pitcher is going to get people thrown out of the game. A one-game playoff. Not smart.
Arrieta is on a roll the likes of which I have never seen a pitcher on as long as I have lived.
The Pirates actually have led all of baseball in hitting batters both this year and last…
I am running off at the mouth but:
The Bucs have put a knife through my heart for my whole life. I don’t want to watch baseball anymore. Loser teams, better teams, playoffs, Game 5 1990 NLCS!, Sid Bream slide, 20 years of losing, playoffs, NLDS, losing, losing. I can’t fucking take it. No more baseball for me. Fuck it. I listened to Game 4 of the 1992 NLCS when trying to get a bj from my homecoming date. That is devotion, my fellow posters.
I’m a team player, but damn, I’m done giving my soul to this team.
TBS sucks. Not the commentators, but the production. The little scoreboard is way too cluttered, and they have some weird, distracting, and totally useless bullseye type thing showing where the ball is on replays. What’s next, a blue streak following the ball in live action?
We have a lot of bars in Chicago, but none of them are named after stupid daily fantasy sports websites. Screw you, WTBS.
My heart sinks…I can’t handle the Bucs anymore.
Cubs win! Cubs win!
Give me some grieving time and I’ll be a Cubs fan in the NLDS. Grew up watching WGN on my new fancy cable box in the 80s. Listened to Harry Carey Went to Wrigley in 99. Watched the Bartley game in 03 screaming at him on the TV.
I’ll be with you in a couple days after I cry, scream, and yell at the Bucs, Cole, Alvarez, and Hurdle.
I believe you are on the road to recovery. And welcome back!
