MLB: The Playoffs

I know Cruz has a great arm, but how slow is Cabrera? He was out by 2 feet.

Slow.

Cardinals.

All I can say is that I heart Nelson Cruz!!!

Note to Tigers managers and pitching staff: When the game is on the line, stop pitching to Nelson Cruz.

And don’t pitch around a gimpy Adrian Beltre.

Slower than that. When he grounds into a double play, he is not even in the camera shot when the 1st baseman catches the ball.

Strike 3, Game 3

Another outstanding performance by Valverde. Though to be fair, he still hasn’t blown a save.

Is there a drop in popularity in baseball among younger fans?

Whatever the popularity level is, Tim McCarver is not helping it.

Seriously, there cannot be a more useless blowhard in network broadcasting today.

By that logic, the Dodgers should be the biggest team nationally and L.A. should be a HUGE baseball town because of Vin Scully.

LA is a huge baseball town. The Dodgers have been a popularity juggernaut in Los Angeles since before I was born. (Why this would translate to national love, I don’t get.) Their attendance over the years has been amazing. In my 40-year lifetime they are the best-attended team in baseball by a wide margin.

What a great job by the bullpen. 12 outs in a row - Salas, Lynn, Rzep, Motte. If these guys keep pitching like this, TLR has a great set of weapons to throw at lineups, even ones as potent as the Brewers.

Now it’s the epic Lohse v. Wolfe matchup.

McCarver doesn’t bother me so much, but Buck’s need to describe everything that’s happening with the most serious intonations drives me crazy. What’s really maddening is that since Fox started carrying so many baseball games, especially the playoffs and World Series, is that the voice you hear on highlight reels (biggest comebacks, best playoff pitching performances, etc.) is that of Buck.

[Joe Buck] For all time. [/Joe Buck]

Bad as they are, still better than he who cannot be named sitting in the middle chair during the pregame and delay. What made them think the player most despised by other MLB players, even his own teammates, would be a good idea? Why should half the game’s audience stick around for impartial commentary when he states how much he doesn’t like one of the two teams playing? I’d turned it to another channel because I already despised him from his White Sox days and just checked back periodically until the game started. But a friend actually called me to inquire “Hey, who is this major league asshole on TV?”

About whom are you talking? I haven’t had a chance to watch much of the postseason, depressingly.

Neither pitch around seemed like a good idea last night and both of them blew up in their managers’ faces.

You’re askin’ a lot for me to say his name. a.j. pierzinski or however it’s spelled.

He was less slouchy last night, so he apparently he took some feedback about his demeanor. He’s still an asshole, and it boggles my mind why they employed him.

HD TV was invented for postseason baseball. God damn I love this. Here I sit in my condo and it’s like I’m there in Detroit.

I love baseball. I love baseball so much I’m already getting sad that the season’s end is a few weeks away.

Verlander seems to be a little arm weary.

Minor break for the Tigers. Up 4 to 2 now.
How slow are the Tigers? They hit 2 doubles to start off an inning and had men at 2nd and 3rd. I thought, one more and they can load them up.
Did I say 6 to 2?
