MMP back-up in case no one else steps up

Ok, speaking of blonde moments.
I decorated the office yesterday, and bought some little tiny stockings & a glue glue & glitter stick. I figured I’d put everyone’s name on them. I actually bought two glue sticks, which was fortitutious, as you’ll see.

I uncapped the first glue stick, and looked into the hole. Hmmm…plugged up, as it should be. I pull out a thumbtack, and make a tiny hole, and squeeze onto paper. No good.

I unscrew the little plastic cap. Ok, you have to picture this…there’s no one in the office. My hair is down, and it’s very curly, so it’s kind of hanging in front of the right side of my face. I look into the tube…and of course somehow my hand inadvertently squeezes.

No, I didn’t get it anywhere on me, other than my hands. But I literally saw my hair get moved aside by the breeze of it! It all happened so quick, and it shot halfway across the room in huge splotches. I cleaned it up, but there’s still blue glitter in the carpet in a little trail. It was so fast, I just sat there for a moment, thinking, “Wha…”

And, now there’s glitter all over my hands. No wonder my mother never let me use glitter at home.

[QUOTE]

Stands all on it’s own as a phrase worth remembering forver.

I came home early today - I was feeling icky at work - sneezy and snuffly and freezing, even tho I was wearing a long-sleeve turtleneck and a fleece pullover. So I left. Stopped at WalMart on the way home for a few items, and when I came out, it was snowing! Snow in LaPlata!! All of 20 or 30 flakes, I think. Rumor has it we’re going to get snow/sleet/rain Sat night. Swell. My sweetie has to leave early Sunday morning to get to the airport. I am not pleased.

That’s all I’ve got. I’m so broing… <sigh> I don’t even have ugly pants to toss into the mix. Although I think we’ve hit our ugly pants quota for the day. The month, even…

I’d actually love to adopt this as a sig phrase, if Draelin’s willing…

From my lunch (General Tso chicken):
Consider gain and loss, but never be
greedy and everything will be all right.

Did I say? We had a puppy in the hospital this past week. Her name was “Katrina” because her people were volunteers for clean-up after the storm and they found her and brought her home. She had parvo. This is Very Very Bad, a puppy with parvo. She was on fluids for a couple days and her people came and visited her a few times. Then, on Wednesday…

…on Wednesday…

She went home!

It was blind, stupid luck that got her better, but still, she got better and went home. One for the “win” column!

Another one for the “win” column: there was this cat who was in the hospital for a week anna half. She was all puny and wouldn’t eat. We sent out some bloodwork to the lab and we watched her. Finally she started eating again (The trick was to scratch her on the head and then she’d eat some. The more you scratched her head, the more she ate.) so that was good.

Only her bloodwork results came back from the lab. She had some really bad blood in her. Her people decided it was time to “put her to sleep”. (And really, looking at the blood results, it was the best decision.) But she just started eating again! So her people decided to take her home for the weekend and scratch her on the head and see what happens.

It’s only a partial “win” really, because she might not actually get better, but she has a good weekend coming at her with lots of head scritchies. Sometimes you take what you can get.
We had a big one in the “loss” column too. There was this giant German Shepherd Dog that came in Tuesday night. She had a stroke (most likely from her symptoms). I wouldn’t have given a thin dime for her chances when she came in. But that night she rallied. Then next morning she was back on her feet and walked herself outside to “go outside”. But then she started sinking and just never pulled out of it. Her people were in to see her a couple of times, and they were really nice people. So it was sucky, but when they get her ashes back they are going to spread them around the backyard and some of the neighbors are coming over for that just because she was such a good dog and she’ll be missed.

But there were lots of puppies what came in the hospital Thursday, and they are all healthy, so that’s good. There was a 40 pound Wolfhound puppy and he was pretty cool. Then there was a 3 pound Maltese puppy that was the same age and she was just a charmer. So with the puppies that got in and the total lack of emergencies, Thursday was a pretty good day at work. (The rest of the week? Uh… it’s over and I didn’t get fired, so we’ll just wave bye-bye to that week and look forward to the next one.)

Happy birthday everyone who had a birthday this week!
That includes our old dog Nicki who turned 15 today.

Have you all noticed the google ads for pants?

Rue, hello…so glad you checked in. The story of the German Shepherd was sad. Our friends used to have a huge German Shepherd too. He was such a good love. Unfortunately, they had to put him down. His back went out and he just never recovered. He was only about nine years old. He looked like a big, mean scary dog, but was the biggest baby there was.

Mr. Taters is straightening out the garage right now. In a short while, I’m going to head to the store and get the fixings for either navy bean soup or split pea soup. Both sound very tasty right now. Today is the perfect day for one of those soups. Cold and snowy here. I’ll need to get more milk and cocoa fixings too. My son is out playing the snow right now. I’m sure he’ll be soaking wet and cold when he comes back in.

One more vote on the pants issue:

I’m an old guy CB, even older than Swampy even, if you can imagine that, and I have both Dockers and Hagar slacks in my closet, but I gotta tell you, those pants are not your friend. Kay?

Snakes, hockey fans shouldna make disparaging remarks about the ancient and honorable game o’ golf, I’m just sayin’.

BTW, Happy Birthday!!! to you and Zelie.

Where is Zelie anyway?

Who’s on for next Monday? I had kinda an interesting story occur to me last night but it won’t be ready for next Monday, I don’t think, and what I think is interesting other people usually find boring anyway, but anyway, whose turn is it?

You know how to make a mama happy!!

Let me know when you’ll be here. If we can do lunch or even a drink, that would be fab~u~lous!

And I’m NOT going to dress you. Pbbbbt, swampy :stuck_out_tongue:

Be my guest! I thought it was a nice turn of phrase, myself.

I’m not gonna scroll back to the beginning of the thread, but the assigned starter for this week didn’t - does said starter wanna give it a shot for Monday? If not, I can probably concoct something hijackable by then and post it before heading off to work.

Dang, Rue, a 15-y/o doggie? That’s really in puppy geriatric territory, isn’t it? I’m wondering if ours will make it to 12 like the vet said she could. If she keeps sneaking out of the yard, she’s just asking to get run over by one of the stupids around here who speed down the street.

Oh yeah, and Happy B-days, snakes and zelie! <flinging confetti with wild and reckless abandon>

I was aforementioned inattentive starter. I’m willing to do it again on Monday–I’ll even leave myself a note here at work and call my answering machine at home to remind me to leave a note for myself there, too.

I’m a little forgetful. Because I never smoke pot.

Mine are made from cast iron or aluminum… how do you even get one lit?

fcm, why don’t you give it a go? Then bumba can do next week since he’s being a tad shy about his interestin story. C’mon, guy!!! We all enjoyed the rats in the rafters story.

rue, I don’t think I could do your job no matter how much I lurves critters. I’m still all broke up about my old dog. I’d be a blubberin mush iffen I was you. Cepting seein all the puppies. Awwwwwwwwww!!!

Hey FCM, I wasn’t the assigned starter, but I’ll take a shot on Monday.

And, ah, hi everyone.

Holy guacamole, welby!! Where ya been hiding?? How’s life? What ya been up to? Did you bring me a present??

Incidentally, it looks like Draelin wants a second chance - does she deserve one?? It’s no biggie for me anyway - I’ve done it twice so far.

I easy baby, you know me.

To answer your questions: Under the bed, great, all sorts of stuff, maybe, you’ll have to wait for Christmas.

I’ll let Draelin do it if she wants it, otherwise expect to see a welby update on Monday morning.

Try smoking a pot of coffee. Saw something on the news recently that coffee stimulates some sort of memory center in the brain. Just don’t drink too much or you’ll be all edgy and wired.

Think it’s time for another cup of rememberizing potion.

I’m such a clever little monkey. After the first mishap with the glitter glue, I did get the second one to work, and now there’s a neat little row of stockings under our Christmas tree - with our names on them! (There’s only four of us.)

I once boiled the resin out of my bowl to clean it–then made a pot of coffee with the resinated water. Hooooooooboy. Not recommended for lightweights. On the other hand, I cleaned my entire house in just under twenty minutes that day.

I don’t need to do the post this week–I’ve already done one. Let’s give somebody who hasn’t yet a shot. And I can also take my note down.

I’m all over it.

See you Monday!
