You know what would be worse? Having an hour long commute home.
Seriously, I hope you fell better real soon.
Very busy day ahead. See y’all later.
Thanks for the anniversary wishes, swampy!
Owww… Here’s a rundown of the grades and their treatments
No more Tae Kwon Do for you, I fear.
If you’re going to be sick at work to the point of expelling stuff, it’s best to puke. I find that if you can puke up at work it’s an automatic pass to go home. See, the way we figure it, puke equals go home, ewwwwwwww!!!
donkeybear nothing matches plaid. New shoes will not help plaid pants. What in the name of all that is gay and f-aaaaaa-bu-lous possessed you to buy plaid pants anyways? Were you experiencing some kind of temporary hetero tendencies?
You’re welcome taxi.
Maybe he’s taking up golf. I bought some plaid flannel pajama pants recently, and found myself remembering Skidz. (Of course, I can’t find a picture online–just imagine plaid flannel jammie pants, only with a logo on the ass.) Ugly as hell and I was way too fat in junior high to wear them, but dayum, were they comfortable.
Hi all.
Salutations and condolences to the appropriate parties.
I am home sick with strep throat and feel like the living dead. fever x 2 days now.
Hope to be better tomorrow–I must work this weekend, so I’d better be better…
Poor eleanorigby!! Get better soon!
I’m going to see my orthopedist in about an hour, but thanks for the heads-up.
I don’t intend to quit TKD, but I will pass on the falling exercises from now on. The hard part will be giving up my swimming for the duration… There will be a big discussion on what to do for exercise in the meantime, definitely.
Shoulder separations happen in the football world all the time, and usually are not career ending injuries. At least that’s what I’m telling myself…
Yes, but those guys are less than half your age, and have Dr. Feelgood as their doctors. Don’t think it works for us old guys that way.
Thanks for all the condolences, and I hope everybody else’s owies get better real soon!
I know what would make me feel better. Cheesecake! Ya got any left, Swampy?
Big plans tonight. I’m going shopping for a cheap business suit to tide me over until I’m completely svelte. I have another interview Monday in Kentucky (Ellen are you shaking already?), and I don’t want to wear the paperclip special ever again.
It will be a dark gray pinstripe, and no plaid anywhere to be found.
I just walked past a coworker’s desk (another department) where she was showing everybody photos of her fiance’s shark bite injuries. And he wasn’t even surfing! This is the beach I go to every summer BTW. Welcome to Florida. Jeesh! and people are worried about more kids being alergic to peanuts. Piffle!
Sending out good vibes to all the sickies and owies.
I haven’t taken pictures yet, but I am a momma again. A friend found two abandoned kittens in her barn. They’re between 2-3 weeks old and eat like piglets. They don’t understand why they can’t both eat at the same time. A third kitten found with them was already dead, but they seem pretty strong - I hope they make it. Wish me luck. It’s been a while since I had to do nighttime feedings!
And Happy Birthday to one of my favorite Dopers, Sampiro!
AWWWWWWWWWWW, kittens!!!
Good luck with them and post pix when you can. You know how much we all love KITTENS!!
Rigs feel better soon. Eat some chicken soup.
I have not eaten any of the cheesecake. It is for tomorrow night. I will be good and wait until then. Besides I have to take strawberries out of the freezer tonight to thaw. See, I want cheesecake with strawberries and whipped cream, so I have to wait until tomorow to get that.
ACBG and I are going for a <snerk> Quickie <snerk> right after work then he has to go home and do a bunch of paperwork so’s we can be slugs together this weekend. Well, I can’t be quite the slug tomorrow, I guess since people are showing up expecting to be fed. The feeding is no biggie though because I’m grilling burgers. Tonight I will make tater (but not our Taters) salad and mix up the baked beans which I’ll bake while the burgers are grillin’ tomorrow. I figured after all the big eats last week, everybody’d appreciate a big juicy grilled burger, tater (but not our Taters) salad and baked beans. Plus cheesecake for dessert!
Bobbio good luck on the suit hunt. The dark gray pinstripe is the way to go for an interviewin’ suit. Reckon the doc will prescribe pt for the shoulder? They seem to do that a lot for us plus forty folks.
SCL yay for the kitties. May they be dragging horrible little rodents to your doorstep in no time.
Oh, plaid pajama (or lounging) pants are acceptable. Just don’t get locked outta the house while wearin’ 'em.
Woo! More kittens!
Rescued siblings need appropriate names. What will they be called?
Curry, anyone? I have a batch of (cheating) chicken curry made with genuine President’s Choice Tikka Masala sauce (that’s the cheating part) almost ready. It’s got lentils in it, too. I got bored thinking about the other leftovers for work and decided I’d rather have something spicy.
Well, it’s snowing again. It’s not really sticking yet. If the temps drop a couple more degrees here, it will stick. However, I’m at work. Apparently, they’re closing my kids’ schools an hour early today, so it must be sticking out in Puyallup.
I don’t feel like working. What else is new? I ran a couple of new reports, but I don’t like them, so now I have to go play around with them some more. Reports, reports, reports…bleah!
Day 4 of the trip to Colorado
Getting ready to go home.
Saturday was a quiet day. Spent some time learning how to cook some more stuff…and talking a lot.
I also packed my bags. I’d come with one small rolling bag and my carry-on bag. I was going back with a HUGE suitcase that was 46 pounds, along with the original rolling case, and a giant gym bag. My original carry-on was folded up and placed inside the gym bag.
I took home:
16 salwar-kameez
3 lenghas, one of which was home-made
2 bottles of homemade *achar * (pickled spiced preserved mango in oil, YUM!)
20 new shirts
5 new sweaters
2 skirt & blouse separates
2 shirts for the SO plus a tie
Knick-knacks
New Jewelry
Some of the homemade butter (we didn’t pack that until Sunday morning, obviously! Ad it stayed in the luggage part, the cold part)
My original clothes, etc.
Fancy shampoo & conditioner and hair products (my sister is a salonist)
And I can’t even think of what else.
Anil came home at 1 PM, and we went out for a little while, but soon came back. That night I made the tandoori chicken for everyone, with *pulao * on the side, and it was a huge hit. My aunt said,
“I never thought my silly girl would grow up to be such a good cook!”
Late that night we danced again. Only for half an hour this time, but we dressed up and took a video, for memories. I also had my sister put on her wedding dress so I could take a picture, and my brother put on his sehera (this is a flowered veil thing men put on their face. I’ll see if I can link to a good pic.)
Ag, I may have to link from home. Anyway, we were all very tired by this point. Remember, we’d hardly slept all week. We finally reluctantly ended the evening, around 12:30 AM, and set the alarm clock for 4:30. I hugged everyone really tight…in four days, I’d found something I’d been missing for a long time: a sense of family.
My aunts got so much bad repuation from the marriage to get Anil into the country that they felt bad about the things they’d though & said about me, and they didn’t want to be like that anymore. They really realized how bad it had been. And Anil was so pathetically happy to get a sister, he never cared anyway.
Tomorrow: The Trip Home, and the last bit, before the weekend!
