MMP: Garage Sales, an early Father's Day and a birthday party

SUVs? Pfft. Pfft I say! When I finally get around to buying a car, there’s a good chance it’ll be one of these puppies right heah. Seven hundred miles in between gas stations. I defy you to be unimpressed by this.

Pffffffft…it doesn’t pull a boat.

Believe it or not, we bought the Expedition to save gas. As it was, we were taking two vehicles most every time we went boating or camping. A big honkin’ F250 Super Duty and my Explorer. Throw in gas for the boat and we were spending lots of money for gas! So now, we have my puuuuurty red Expedition and we only need to take one vehicle.

Ya know…there’s a reason I love this place. I spent all afternoon working my way toward the end of my rope and then got home, logged in, and was instantly cheered up. Saw Belrix’s rampaging pastry cooks post and it really tickled me for some reason. Found the MMP and smiled my way through everyone wishing each other well and nice comments about pics and other stuff. I’ve got all kinds of comments and other stuff and still wanted to write my recap of the picnic, but first I AM GOING TO GET ICE CREAM AND GO FOR A WALK.

Yes, it’s been that kind of day. I can totally relate to swampy calling his friend annoying like a gnat, among other things.

That is all.

GT

Ooooh! I forgot! I wanted to address FCM’s tendonitis issue.

Mr. Taters was having some serious on-going pain in his shoulder and neck along with swelling. We really thought things were messed up, but the doc told him he had swollen tendons and it usually resolves itself in a couple/three months. He recommended Mr. Taters take Aleve, but did not recommend PT.

I have been informed I’m going to Costco tonight. Lord help us, we’re going to spend WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much money there. I haven’t been since January.

Ha! I can do that. I’ve got a 35 gal. gas tank.

Rue, you look just like I’ve always pictured. auntie em, Baker, and gt are very cute. I’m not sure I had a mental picture of Horseflesh before, but boy do I have one now. Great. I think.

I think I’ll make more tea. Tomorrow I must be all better because I want to do the laundry, and make nice white bread, calzones, and focaccia. Maybe some whole wheat for my upstairs neighbours.

I’m hungry. I wonder if we have chicken noodle soup.

Costco=all sorts of stuff you didn’t know you needed. Ikea is a bit that way, too. I got sheets. My mom took me. The sheets were fifteen bucks each, which is a helluva lot better than $50. The new ones are white, and I predict the kitties will be unimpressed. They like the burgundy because it makes them look pretty.

Cool, I’m looking at the Camry and other hybrids. Probably in about 2-3 years.

Jim

I need to bite someone. Any volunteers?

What Exit?, when you get around to looking at hybrids, hubby and I luv our Prius.

Announcement! On June 2nd I have an appointment to start my physical screening for a clinical study on Restless Legs Syndrome. I’m not sure who is happier about this, me or Mr. SCL. He claims he has bruises from my kicking him in my sleep. I’m really hoping they have come up with something effective for this irritating condition.

I have to go to the dentist again tomorrow. Do you think he’ll ever give me a ride in the Jag I paid for?

Bite me.

And don’t you dare go back home. If it doesn’t work out in Roanoke, go back to Pennsylvania.

Like hell, I’m going back to Pennsylvania. I’ve had someone offer me a place to stay there, but let’s just say the price is way too high, and it’s not in money.

Home is the only option. It’s a sucky option, but at least it’s an option with a roof on it.

Today at the job fair, I was kindly informed by the woman who interviewed me that I am not suitable for what they’re offering. Yep, that’s right, I’m not qualified, apparently, for freaking cable company customer service. WTF? And the job I supposedly have is still up in the air as I have still not been able to get hold of the person I need to talk to. On the bright side, though, I amazed the lady at the temp agency with my mad office skillz. Nobody does data entry like Telperien, yo.

I need a drink. I better go get one.

It just happened that I looked up tendonitis on line and that’s pretty much what it said! So I’m going to cancel my PT and resort to ice packs and ibuprofen and taking it easy. And in the future, I’m going to trust my instincts, which, in this case, said I should be taking it easy. After all, I’m a delicate flower and all that crap.

Hey all. I am a tired rigby now. Trim is finished, except for one effing spot that I msised and too bad it can wait till tomorrow.

I will try my doll pic again: here I am

Bet it doesn’t work. It doesn’t even look like me anyway. Why can’t I do the simplest damned things? I am so stupid and can’t even paint.

As you can see, I am rather down at present. I just talked to my Dad. Why do I feel like I’m twelve when I talk to him? I called them to see if they might be wiling to come visit their only grandkids while I am down at “boot camp” in late July.

He told me everything but no: he’s not sure, and there is this problem, and where do they put the dogs, and the construction on the Cape Cod house* is messed up and my brother and his GF are coming out to the Cape the weekend following my boot camp, and what do I mean I can’t just send the kids (tutoring, summer school and summer jobs) and it’s possible, but not probable, and if they could work something out, could I provide a car? 'Cause their budget is tight.

Why do I ever ask? Oh, right–I forgot–I never ask them for this very reason. Why can’t he just say NO and be done? He told me it was short notice. Short notice? I just found out about grad school last week. I am about to cry. He makes me so mad sometimes. Why whenever I ask, I don’t get? (these are people who fly to other states, just to see opera; my mother used to fly up here to get her hair done, she not trusting the salons in Memphis.) I have asked for their help(for them to come up and stay) exactly 3 times: each time a baby was born. Bah.
Talk about oversharing–I just did. Sorry.

I hope all the ones who are suffering maladies improve overnoc. ]

And I need to remember that my parents are teaching me what NOT to do with my kids and, god willing, any grandkids I may end up with.
*they have 4 houses: 3 of which they actually use. The fourth one just sits empty in Florida.

Another tip for work-related stuff. If it’s your right shoulder (can’t remember and I’m too lazy to look), try using the mouse left-handed. Takes lots of stress off. I had mild tendinitis in my elbow a couple of years ago and it wasn’t getting better as quickly as I’d hoped. Ice, ibuprofen and switching the mouse over helped a lot. Probably won’t make as much of a difference with the shoulder, but it will probably help. It was weird for the first couple weeks, but I’ve left it that way and since then found that there are a lot of people who recommend this routinely because it puts the mouse closer to the keyboard, which is where you want to have it… Also, there may be other repetitive motion situations where you’re stressing out your shoulder and could benefit from becoming ambidextrous.

Ice cream helps a lot. Also, the little brother called while I was walking. He was in town on business and stopped by before heading home. Shared some pics from a recent trip while we looked at Google maps - pics were on his phone, maps helped him give me a guided tour. Really cool.

I only took a couple of pics at the picnic, but I’ll share them in a bit. (I’m going to post them to the other thread, but link them here.)

GT

GT - my left shoulder is the offending one, and I’m right handed. I’ve tried to be aware of things I do that might irritate it - specifically leaning on my left elbow when I’m on the computer mousing around. I’ve found it feels good if I take hold of my collar with my left hand - it may look odd, but it seems to take the strain off the shoulder. I’ve got an ice pack in the freezer - I’m thinking I’ll pull it out for a bit this evening. I’ve already popped some ibuprofen, and it seems to be helping.

FCM, sounds like you’re doing all the right stuff. I’m amazed at the little things you don’t think about until you injure something. The other thing that really helped me was icing it consistently. Can’t remember exact numbers. Something like 15 minutes out of every hour for X hours. I probably found the info on WebMD.

rigs, didn’t see your post before my last one. That stinks. Cool people like you deserve better parents. Hopefully the other grandparents are closer to your kids or you have other friends or relatives who can be like grandparents to your kids.

GT

gt, FCM - someone may correct me, but I was always told 15 minutes on, 15 off for ice. And you’re right, that makes a huge difference bringing down the inflammation, eases the pain.

rigs** needs a group hug everyone, come on, let’s make a ring around rigs
MMMMMM- HUG!!

Lookee, I even made it cub blue for ya!

yeeaaaaggghhh!!!
In my under-the-weathered-ness yesterday, I forgot a chorus committee meeting! and it was kind of an important one; we’ve got a fund raising even coming up in June (fortunately, I have a very able assistant to get the PR stuff out, but still I should have been there) And when did I finally remember this? at 9:30pm tonight. OY!

Also, Telperien, you may bite one of my cats.

I’m really sorry that the job fair people were so stupid.

Great big hugs to eleanor. That really sucks…I wish there was something I could say that would make you feel better. I hope it makes you feel better to know that we all care about you.

Well, we have returned from our mighty foraging trip to Costco. I am embarrassed to say that we spent way, way, way too much money. Let’s put it this way; we came out with TWO, count 'em, TWO carts! :o

Mistake number one: Mr. Taters came with me. This meant spending more than double what I would if I had gone alone.

Mistake number two: I haven’t been to Costco since January. I think we were making up for lost time. Plus, yes, we found stuff that we didn’t really NEED, but wanted. For instance, I bought some new knives. I didn’t get that nice $170.00 Henckel set though. Also, we had to buy printer cartridges. I needed the photo cartridge, plus we needed the tricolor and regular black cartridges. We bought a nice pepper mill. We did buy quite a bit of food though. The things listed above were really the only impulse type buys. Oh, we got unlimited movie tickets too, but those were only $14.99 for two of them.

We also visited the washer and dryer I’m going to get. We’re going to wait a couple of weeks though. We’ve been on kind of a wild little jag here, and we’re going back off now. The nice thing though, is that all the bills are paid until the end of NEXT month.

Tel, hang in there. We’re all pulling for you.

I need to check our chop-chop now. I’m making the chicken alfredo that Costco carries in their deli case. It’s actually pretty decent.
