Remember, one of these days Cecil is gonna get asked the “Enterprise vs. Star Destroyer” question… and then who’ll you turn to for an answer? Coldfire? Pish-posh!
I know you’re joking, Mr.MSG but I’m guessing TubaDiva isn’t so much bitter as tired. (Unfortunately for the analogy, that is not a taste sense category.)
In a recent thread she said
The result is that she’s posting only adminstrative rulings, and not much else, so she comes off as “tense”, when a more charitable interpretation would be “distracted”.
Maybe the FAQ update will solve much of that.
All the common answers (like why we don’t have Napster and HTML and paid memberships and copyrighted material) can be in one place. Then she won’t have to look like Judge Judy when every repeat question comes along.
I’m sure Tuba herself will be here shortly to do the same, but let me be the first to thank you on your broad and in-depth psychological analysis. I don’t know what we would do without your insights.
I suspect one reason Tuba is posting mainly administrative rulings is because of this:
You give up some of your right of self-expression when you come to work here; by the nature of the gig you have to able to see most points of view and administer evenhandedly. It means not speaking sometimes when you want to slap somebody for a week or two solid, or not getting to use that incredibly clever riposte. It also means sometimes taking horrendous abuse and not being able to do anything about it but bear up under it.
In an earlier life I’ve seen Tuba post an honest answer to an angry group that didn’t want an honest answer…they wanted to rain a ton of grief on the first moderator in their gunsites.
Fighting ignorance may be the motto of the board but when ignorance is chosen by large groups it’s often better to practice the discretion of silence.
I was never talking about YOU. Not everything is about you.
I was talking about Coldfire. I thought that was obvious.
He tries for a reputation of, shall we say, grump. As seen here.
However, now that you have volunteered as bitter, and Alphagene and Coldfire and Arnold all agree, that’s among yourselves to analyze.
I was just trying to say Arnold should forget Righteous, since bringing that up all the time made him sound harsh, and he is usually so funloving.
Hannibal, your quote above seems to refer to Arnold Winkelried.
I try for a reputation? Dude, I am a pretty happy guy by nature. Of course, there are a few things that can indeed get me grumpy.
Don’t flatter yourself. You’re not among them.
Awfully opinionated for a newbie, BTW. 'T was but last week I saw your eloquent “Ummmm… hi” thread in this very forum. What have I done so far to make your life miserable, hmmm?
hhmmmm. Hannibal… why is it that every time you post is to moan about something? And if you think that Coldy is just grumpy, you obviously haven’t seen him with a hangover.
