In many threads I see posts from the mods that go something like this:
[Moderator Hat: ON]
blah, blah, blah
[Moderator Hat: OFF]
What I want to know is, what do these moderators’ hats look like? Does each mod have a different hat of their choosing, or are they issued by Ed like a uniform? What hats would each mod pick if they had a choice? I am imagining a pirate’s hat, emblazoned with a skull and crossbones sitting beside the mods’ computers…
This is in the pit, not because I expect it to get nasty, but because the pit is for “other discussion regarding administration of the SDMB” (I assume this includes silliness )
Nah. They’re pink ballcaps, with a little emoticon on the front showing a smiley face wearing a judge’s white wig. That’s why the Mods wear their hats only when absolutely necessary.
If they were pirate hats, they’d be wearing them all the time! I mean, wouldn’t you?
I thought each forum had a special hat as part of their uniform, so you could tell them apart. You know, like nurses in different departments of the hospital wear different colors of scrubs.
I wish I could be a Moderator, just so I could wear a Moderator’s Hat. I’d have a pointy cap made of red felt, with the word “MODDERATER” spelled out in dull sequins.
I have long been preoccupied by the appearance of Moderator Hats. At first I thought of them as baseball caps in various colors to designate function like staff personnel in Vietnam where the officers and enlisted people in the Judge Advocate’s Office of the First Cav. Division wore black hats with the letters F.T.A. (for First Team Advocate, of course).
On further consideration it seems to me that for formal and dress occasions the Moderators and the Administrators must wear a black leather and brass affair like the Piklehalbs worn by German Generals of the Second Empire (1870-1918). The model authorized for Administrators, I think, must have a plume of dark horse tail rising from the spike and cascading grandly over the left ear.
The Great Cecil of course wears a pope like miter hat in cast iron and green shag carpet with the seal of the Great Cecil’s office embossed in emeralds . For undress the Great C. must wear an Administrator’s helmet with a scarlet plume. The Great Cecil the name of an office not that of any particular person, like the title “Cesar.”
