I loved Manny’s golf duds – “It’s the whole reason I asked you to teach me how to play golf. Any sport where you can wear this, I’m in!”
I thought he said, “Win a war, Sunshine,” which is even better. Very Joe Friday. In fact, I’m starting to confuse Philip Baker hall with Jack Webb in my memory.
I love Phil’s little jabs at Claire –
“Pretty comforting coming from a marketing major at a party school.”
Then his fantasies of Claire being a comforting stewardess … or also a cop (not a comforting one, I’m guessing).
On his Quidditch game with Luke: “I move too fast. He never touched me.”
Phil on “Smarty Pants” was too over-the-top though.
Watch the Floyd Gondolli scene in “Boogie Nights” - that should help you keep them straight.
Rewatching, I think I heard it wrong – it is “some time,” not “sunshine.”
One reason is that for a guy who is a relatively youthful 40-something Ty Burrell doesn’t “youthen” well. I did like his shout out to “Jay and Didi” for teaching him the secret of a long relationship though.
Speaking of, I never thought I’d say this about a character played by Shelley Long, but I’m hoping she’s coming back soon.
Was Benjamin Bratt as “hot Latin lover” when he was on the show before? He seems to be playing a Fernando Lamas/Ricardo Montalban 1950s stock character in this episode and I don’t remember that from before. (He was hot of course because he’s Benjamin Bratt, but I don’t remember the accent being as thick or the “mahvelous” persona.)
I noticed while watching the show that he sounded A LOT like Ricardo Montalban if you weren’t looking at him. What a nice, rich, Corinthian leather voice.
You’re right, he does have the “rich, Corinthian leather voice” of Ricardo Montalban.
I really like Benjamin Bratt’s voice as Xavier Delgado, but I had not made that specific connection until you mentioned it. Very astute!
Does anyone know where I can find information about wardrobe for the show? I am looking for this in particular: http://screencast.com/t/YvOgq5m2 and where I can buy it.
Thanks,
Brandi
