So, what did you guys think of the episode?
Meh.
“They’re onion glasses. You should get a pair.”
“I was just thinking the same thing about you.”
“You say that ‘like a twig’ thing a lot, and I’m telling you right now it makes me uncomfortable.”
“Hands! Hands!”
The look on Cam’s face during the photo at the park was priceless.
You know what I love about Modern Family? Not only is it the funniest show on TV, but it tugs at the heart strings as well.
The scene of the three kids napping on the couch with their mom, all in each others’ arms as Phil snaps a picture = priceless.
Yes, that was a very good scene!
I didn’t think he even got the picture. I thought the camera made the beeping sound when he turned it on.
No, the flash woke them up. They were all rubbing their eyes and acting put out at Phil.
Clearly they were going for poignancy over humor this week. Not terrible, but not their best work.
And Cam is totally the woman.
That is such a super sensitive issue in some gay relationships that I was glad to see a show address it. At least they didn’t go to the bedroom thing (which is how an alarming number of people seem to think the “woman” role is determined).
“His poetry… not very good!”
What amuses me about the Cameron/Mitchell dynamic is that Cameron is simultaneously the more macho and more effeminate of the pair (the twig-snapping comment brought this to the foreground nicely). Nifty character, although I’m not really in a position to gauge the accuracy of his portrayal.
Luke’s vast “knowledge” of coyotes and the wilderness was quite “impressive”
That’s true. He’s built like a linebacker, but he’s the hugger.
Lily was precious holding the balloons!
A “woman” who can toss a ball through a piece of plywood! Ha!
(I can’t remember what episode he said that plywood quote, but Mitchell was complaining that he always got picked last for teams in gym class. Cam, of course, had a completely different experience, since he was a big, athletic fellow, under the rolls of fat.)
I like that too. Cameron also played football in college and and been shown bonding with Jay over that. I also loved Jay’s subplot regarding his memories of his own mother. Mother’s Day must really suck when your mom’s dead.
"It’s because you say things like ‘sports games.’ "
There was also the episode where Mitchell felt non-macho because when they heard what they thought was somebody in Lily’s nursery Cam was on his feet bat in hand in two seconds. Not that this is necessarily something a mother wouldn’t do instinctively.
I was trying to remember what all we ‘learned’ but all I can think of is “coyotes are the fastest mammal on Earth”. What were some of the others?
I love the show but this was not one of my favorite episodes. Still way better than most sitcoms.
I think it was established in the episode where Mitchell built the princess castle that Cam was pretty handy with tools and fixing stuff. That’s more a stereotype of manliness but Mitchell has the facial hair so it’s a draw.
