“How do you get kicked out of a bakery?”
“That’ll do it…”
“How do you get kicked out of a bakery?”
“That’ll do it…”
Persistently broken step isn’t as funny as one of the writers apparently thinks it is.
It’s hilarious, I dunno what’s wrong with you.
(actually, I just like phil talking to the step as if it were doing it on purpose.)
I thought it was very odd that Cameron shouted, “Why did we ever have children?” In all my trials and tribulations as a young, sleep-deprived mom, I never once THOUGHT such a thing. And I thought it was completely out of character for him.
No one would scale a 6 foot privacy fence to get a photo. And what kind of self-respecting watch dog doesn’t notice intruders until their halfway in the yard?
It was cute that Phil finally said, “I’ll catch her” and it was referring to his wife instead of Gloria, which has been the running gag.
Oh, and thanks to the Yahoo article a few months ago, I can’t watch Jay without wondering how Craig T. Nelson would have been in the part. (If you didn’t read it, the part of Jay was written for him, but he turned it down because he thought that the salary was a slap in his face.)
Loved Jay’s sexyphone.
And how he parsed out why Gloria gave him a phone resembling a pair of lips.
mmm
I liked that too, but I’m surprised the writers went in that direction instead of “Honey, what’s this?” “You said you wanted a sexyphone” “…What I said was I wanted to learn to play the SAXaphone?” but I guess they wanted to change it up a bit. It just seemed a bit clumsy to me.
Agreed.
I loved this one. I liked the poorly shot video that referenced all the past episodes, and that they showed Claire and Mitchell having a conversation about Manny that would be a real concern (re: inheritance) and then Manny being the one that gave Jay something even close to what he wanted.
“Gloria is going to yell at me. She’s mean in Spanish!”
I really liked that part as well. I was wondering if the writers really thought this far in advance or if the actors had to go through a lot of costume changes to redo all the old scenes to get that footage.
I felt very sad for Cameron when he was being so kind to Manny, helping him with the mitt and giving him date advice and encouraging him about going to the batting cage, and then Manny ran off to get Jay. I bet Cam is a great baseball/softball coach and could hit the ball a ton, and if Jay knows what he’s doing he’ll get Cam involved.
But he won’t.
I totally disagree. I’d rather have the joke shown to me than told to me.
Figuring it out - just a half-step behind Jay - is where the payoff lies.
mmm
That’s why Cam wants to have a boy next time. Maybe the new kid will have a personality.
I think it’s a little odd that they weren’t concerned about Gloria getting half. She might have signed a prenup, but it’d still leave her with a sizable chuck of the estate. Besides if Jay was changing his will to leave more money to Manny he’d probally increase Gloria’s share at the same time.
Yeah, 'cause there’s no way Cam will be able to teach Lily how to play softball. :dubious:
No way I can see Craig T. Nelson in that role. Al Bundy owns it.
Man, Gloria trying on dresses … shudder.
It’s conceivable that they could have been talking about 1/3 of their 1/2. If you die intestate in many states, the surviving spouse gets 1/2 and the surviving kids split the other half evenly.
Loved Jay’s conversation with the dog washer.
“Yes, I was wrong to blame her. You’re pretty quick to judge. You know who did your job in my day? A hose.”
Also when Jay’s scolding Claire and Mitchell in the car and they regressed into their younger selves.
Am I the only one who thinks that Luke got too little credit for his editing? Given what he had to work with, that was great work, imo.
He said “wrecked 'em” !
I think my favorite throwaway bit was after dinner:
Jay: “You know what? I’ve been acting like a twelve year old.”
Luke: “Hey!”
“Not really into sports? I have a tennis racket that I only use to stir up my bubble bath.”
So glad they didn’t go with Craig T. Nelson- he’s such a douche when he whines about politics. (His most famous line is that [I’m paraphrasing] “Where was the government when I was on welfare?” comment.) I wonder if they’re paying Ed O’Neill more than they offered Nelson.
O’Neill’s done a great job of making people forget Al Bundy. While he’s a great actor I can’t imagine him as Al Swearengen (which he was offered). I wonder if they’ll ever reunite him with Katey Sagal- not sure if it would work or not really- though I do like Shelly Long better as his ex in this than I have on any other of her projects.
