Modern Warfare 2

too late for edit:
Frustratingly fraps’ framerate indicator goes away if you turn gamecam on. So I can’t see the framerate when using gamecam.

In fraps the non-recording fps is 90. the recording fps is 30 or below.

I really don’t think it is a glitch. I am assuming you are talking about how fast you can move with the care package flare in your hand…It stands to reason that the heavier the thing you’re carrying, the slower you move. The care package flare is probably the lightest thing you can carry so it stands to reason you can move faster.

ETA, I’m not a fan of people who rely on it because they can’t play any other way… but like I’ve said before, the game must be perfectly balanced since nobody seems to be happy.

Nope. Not that one. The infinite care package glitch. It’s incrediblehow easy it is, actually.

I’m out of date it seems. GameCam changed into a lightweight recorder at some point. Fraps crushes framerates but outputs at much higher quality.

If you bought GameCam, I wouldn’t buy Fraps.

I ***hate ***people who do that. I run into it all the time and it *ruins *the game for everyone.:mad::mad:

If they can’t fix them, then I wish they’d just get rid of care packages all together. They cause nothing but problems. Lame-o fast running and infinite care packages ruin a game that I love otherwise.

I report every person I can be sure is using that infinite exploit and I hope Microsoft and IW go to their homes and burn them to the ground. Failing that, I suppose a really serious ban would be ok.

Is that just an Xbox thing or can that be done on PC as well? I’ve never noticed it, but I’ve not really paid attention for it either.

I think it’s across platforms, but the fix has been spotty at best. I believe it was the “fix” on PS3 in Europe that fatally froze the game.

As it turns out, even gamecam is defninitely doing something detrimental to my game. I think it’s the controls. It makes them juttery.

The reason I believe so is that tonight I’ve played without using it and I’m back on form. I’ve played FFA where I’ve come 2nd, 3rd, and 4th consistently. And lost only one of many 1-1 matches.

I guess my recording games days are over a day after they began :frowning:

Yeah, it seems nearly every game I go into has constant Chopper Gunners, AC-130’s, Cobras, Harriers … Most of the time it’s not an issue for me as I have Cold-Blooded on all but one of my classes but my teammates are always getting killed. Don’t even get me started on how common kill-boosting has become, either. Jesus.

Youtube doesn’t work for me. Can someone please describe what the glitch is?

Well, maybe not. After posting for some reason I tried upping the recording frame rate from 30 to 60 (was sure it would actually make things worse as fraps would be doing twice as much recording work) It resulted in a game frame rate of between 40 and 60 (closer to the non-recording 90) and I actually had an ok game…

But there was still definitely a noticeable control smoothness hit. Not as fluid as non-recording play.

Question: When you’re recording in fraps and the fps indicator goes red, is it indicating game fps or is it indicating recording fps?

Get enough kills for a turret, care package, or emergency airdrop killstreak (anything that gives you the smoke canister). Find a wall you can climb over with the action button (it’s A on the 360) with the canister out. As you’re climbing up the wall, hit right on the directional pad twice. If you have the smoke canister out, you did it right. Otherwise, you’ll have your main weapon drawn. Throw the canister. You’ll still have your original canister. Repeat and you’ll have a sea of air-dropped crates in front of you.

That’s a better description than I was able to gather from watching the video. I couldn’t work out what was happening in the video. It looked as if the ‘cheat’ was to shoot the care package as it fell.

Huh. I didn’t even watch the video. Here, thisvideo should explain it as I did (and the people playing are acquaintances of mine).

Well, sumbitch. Stupid “Reply” button.

Both in a way. The red indicates that it is recording and the program limits your max frame rate to the recording frame rate. So the number is your frame rate in game as well as the recording frame rate.

Interesting. I would have thought a better recording system would be to take samples of the game 30 times every second. So say for the sake of argument the FPS was 90, and recording FPS was 30 the recording software would sample every 3rd frame.

I am now convinced that recording games has a detrimental effect on play. Last night I pwnd everyone.

Not that I’m likely to get this ‘into’ recording games but, does anyone know of any hardware solutions for recording PC monitor activity (short of actually pointing a camcorder at it) that would allow me to record without using the PC’s own resources?

Has there been any news on down-loadable content (new maps) recently?

Just the mishmash of maps they’ve had for previous games and are looking to re-release.
