Mods editing their own posts

I like to have sweaty butt sex with golden retrievers. Oh, and I’m an asshat.

Ok, I can live with the mods having the power to edit posts, but now they get the ability to time travel?
I’m envious.

And while it’s been fun, I’m going to ask that you don’t do this anymore. If done correctly, it’s not going to be possible to tell what we’ve edited and what was just a joke. So, please don’t do it anymore.

Aww, man Euty, I didn’t even get to do it once. Can’t you get better counterfitting measures, like putting real messages in purple or something?

Aww dang. I was gonna put like “Last edited by your mom on last night at my place” or something in my sig.

I always get here too late for the fun.

Yup. That’s it. That should sort out the doubters, Ukelele Ike. Bravo, that mod! clap, clap, clap

And ya know – I spelled your username wrong, and only realised it on submit. Apologies, sir. My grasp of spelling slips away …

Medea’s Child, the normal procedure as I see it, for non-critical errors such as coding, grammar, and spelling, is either to let it be and trust people to figure it out, or to post a correction. I think the mods have better things to do than to change my “teh” to “the” because I’m worried people aren’t going to understand what I mean. Mods edit posts when rules are broken, such as when copyrighted material is quoted in full. When that has occurred, the reason was either posted by the mod or starkly obvious.

If a mod forgets its brain at home and posts in violation of the board’s rules, they’re more than welcome to change it once they tune back in, but I’m not expecting that to happen.

Hey, ya never know… the mods could be using those classic CYA procedures they learned from the head honcho.

Whoops… my apologies to Eutychus. That was a joke that I put in… without reading past the first page of the thread. But leave it in… as “the Hamsterette” is a very special nickname for me. (given to me by Spoz, who else? :D)

Yep, I could have gone with another, more recent nickanme, but “last edited by the double-post Nazi” might be easily misinterpreted, especially in this thread about the mods here… oh well.

Oh, and Ukulele Ike… it’s spelled “assuage”…

You could ask him to edit for you, since you can’t do it yourself…

I have the ability to edit my own posts without all that edited by stuff.

[sub]It is called the preview button[/sub]

Preach it, brother!

I just discovered this post by UncleBeer, from almost two years ago. He edited the post and briefly indicated why. In later edited posts by the same mod I’ve seen no explanation.

I appreciated the note in that post. I’d like to see that trend continued.

You’re assuming an honest quote. What if the “quote” was a lie, and not original at all?

Oh, c’mon, Lib! Nobody around here would do anything like that!

(Except maybe me, above. Straightforward answers like yours are too boring for me. )

If I could edit posts this thread would be long gone.
