This may be true, but I can’t figure out how to see it.
Or pjd’s, either. Opening a reply box doesn’t work. Neither does highlighting.
However, unhijackably, there is a cat next to me engaging in Purr.
That will show what astringency means. My granny used to have one. Brrr! But they look good.
Very nice twist.
I was thinking more of the limbo.
At one house I lived in, in San Diego, there was a persimmon tree in the front yard. Some neighbors asked if they could pick some…sure. The things made a big mess when they fell off the tree.
A different house in SD had a rosemary bush the size of a VW Bug and a huge date palm.
We have a lemon tree down the street with so many lemons and they are starting to fall off. It makes me want to cry every time I walk or drive by.
Those things are expensive these days!
Are they falling off because they’re ripe?
Can you find out whose tree it is, and ask permission to pick some?
What are we calling kaffir lime trees now, “kaffir” being offensive? I want to grow one for the leaves.
Are we in Cuba yet? Seriously, I am looking ahead for travel ideas post-2023, which is already booked, and Cuba looks like a possibility. Any pointers?
Just east of Cuba there’s a giant pointer I hear is best avoided due to possible “misadventure”
It was unoccupied until very recently, so I’ll see if I get the chance.
This thread seems a bit unoccupied at the moment, so I thought I’d mention that I’m finally looking seriously about dropping AT&T cable and going to a streaming service with a live TV option. Hulu+ is the leading contender, mostly because I already pay for Disney+ and could save on the bundle.
We’re thinking of Firestick plus Sling.
I bought a firestick just for this experiment. My TVs are too old to support most of the streaming services. I do like it so far, but I haven’t settled on service yet.
Hijack
Pumpkin pie is best when served with whipping cream poured on it. No sugar, no vanilla, and unwhipped.
We now return you to your regular hijack.
I love this thread. It reminds me of my favorite riddle:
Q: When is an orange like an orange?
A: A bicycle, because a vest has no sleeves!
This never fails to crack me up. I’ve no idea why.
By the way, the apple pie is ready. It ended up with a crumb topping, so most of you are out of luck.
My mother in law passed away over the summer after a decade of Alzheimer’s. One of the things she was known for in her prime was her apple pie. That is something I will be missing this Thanksgiving. (My wife and I have tried to duplicate her recipe, but it’s just not the same.)
I didn’t want to post this in the thread about the Colorado nightclub shooting, as it didn’t seem appropriate there, but I had to post it somewhere.
My wife texted me a photo, I don’t know the source, of two people hugging and consoling each other after the shooting. And one of the people was identified as “Jadzia Dax McClendon”. (Star Trek DS9 fans will get the reference.) Gotta wonder if that’s their birth name or if they chose it themselves at some point.
Hi Jack !
