Moe Greene sleeps with da fishes (Alex Rocco has died)

He was 79.

One of my favorite character actors/“that guy” actors ever. I first remember seeing him in The Facts of Life, as Jo’s dad.

I was just watching the last episode of “Party Down” a couple of days ago, featuring the late Alex Rocco.

He was great on the Simpsons.

Rip. :frowning:

Last thing I saw him on was “Maron.”

He has been on Episodes recently playing Matt LeBlanc’s jerk of a dad. (Not at all based on LeBlanc’s real jerk of a dad, of course.)

Remember him as the Playtone owner in That Thing You Do?

Draw chips for everyone in the room so they can play on the house.

Loved him in The Pope Must Die as Cardinal Rocco.

Now, for sure, you can’t talk to Moe Greene that way. :frowning:

There’s a bio of him in today’s Boston Globe obit. He’s from Somerville, where he was a small-time bookie before heading out to the West Coast. Once there, he took acting under another Boston expatriate, Leonard Nimoy, who suggested that (like himself) the budding actor work to erase his heavy Boston accent.

His real name was Alex Petricone (!)
