Thanks! So are the owners going to be arrested for hiring an illegal immigrant?
I posted it a couple days ago in post #116 but it was duly ignored because it is not convenient to the narrative.
I didn’t ignore it. I didn’t see it.
But, they ARE going to arrest the owner of the business for hiring an illegal immigrant, right?
So with the threat being equal, are you planning on treating illegal aliens and family and friends the same way?
So you don’t think your civil rights should be impaired. It’s other people’s civil rights you’re willing to sacrifice.
No, I don’t have any plans to advocate for the deportation of my friends or family. There’s no legal mechanism to deport them, so it would be pointless.
Whose civil rights do you imagine I am willing to sacrifice?
You could have them declared as terrorists and deported to Guantanamo Bay. That’s a legal mechanism.
I don’t know the labor laws in Iowa. Is it a crime to not use E-Verify? To hire an illegal immigrant with fraudulent documents? Is there a crime the business owner committed?
Are there cases where American citizens, residing here in America, have been “declared terrorists” by their friends / families and then “deported” to Guantanamo? I’m personally not aware of any such thing having been done. I’m growing increasingly skeptical of your grasp of legal mechanisms.
You could set the precedent. Might even get on TV.
It’s not a precedent I’m interested in setting. If you’ll recall, I said “… it’s important to take reasonable steps, in accordance with our laws and values, to reduce the number of American citizens that get raped / murdered.”
Falsely accusing people of terrorism when I have no evidence or belief to support such an accusation is not in accordance with my values (and I would hope yours). I don’t think it’s a “reasonable” step either. We have a different legal framework already in place today to handle domestic terrorism.
The Kremlin is at it again!
*A network of Russian-linked Twitter accounts have been disseminating divisive content about Mollie Tibbetts’ death in an apparent attempt to divert attention from explosive news surrounding Donald Trump and his former associates.
Almost immediately after a guilty verdict was announced in the trial of Paul Manafort, the president’s former campaign chairman convicted on eight counts of bank and tax fraud charges, there was a flurry of activity among hundreds of pro-Kremlin Twitter accounts believed to be controlled by Russian government influence operations. Those accounts began posting thousands of tweets about Ms Tibbetts, the 20-year-old University of Iowa student who had been missing for nearly five weeks. *
So by spreading this, you become a Junior KGB agent, nice! I wonder if they give out little toy badges…
Earlier I pointed that:
You replied that:
So why that that comment about “4 years ago”?
But anyhow, that was missing the point, the point was about accountability. And if Republicans think this issue is a winner, one has to wonder why many that think that this is a gift for Trump are making excuses for his politicization of the issue, and also making excuses for the Republican owners of the farm and the Republican representatives and executives that did not do much about the hiring of illegals.
Because it had been reported that he came to Iowa 4-7 years ago.
Yeah, i really don’t understand why the big deal about Mollie. I was seeing her story in the news before they knew she was murdered, just when she was missing. Yeah, it sucks for her and her family, but it sucks for thousands of families when a loved one is lost or murdered.
A few weeks ago, someone came to my shop asking to put up this flyer about her missing sister. She’s been missing since July 28th. A month later, still missing.
There are a few local stories about her, but nothing national or even statewide, there are more links from her church than from news agencies.
Then we have Megan Anderson. Her body was found dumped on the side of the interstate, to be found when workers came to mow the side of the road, with no clues as to who killed her. Where is her national news?
If your point is that the news industry is fickle and unfair in which news stories they promote and which ones they don’t, I doubt you’ll find many who disagree with you.
Due process is a legal right. Since you said laws and values, I’m still curious about the (shared) values part. Also, you specified rape prevention in your previous post. Are you suggesting that if due process were somehow ignored or infringed, rapes would be prevented? If so, how?
Seriously just trying to understand.
Missing the point, it is clear that you made your statements on E-verify, and what the Responsibility the Republicans had, based on an appeal to ignorance.
Big deal is that the kremlin is pushing this story to get heat off their buddy, Trump.
