Mollie Tibbetts missing college student (allegedly) killed by illegal alien

I think they generally support more deportations precisely because they’ve got that figured out already.

So you do agree that there are people who want to punish ten million people for a crime committed by one person. And I’m assuming you agree with them as well.

It hasn’t been twenty-four hours since you denied anyone was suggesting this.

I recall after 9/11 Bush 43 saying, on national TV, that people should not harass women wearing the the hijab, pointing out that not all Arabs or Muslims were part of the true 9/11 conspiracy orchestrated/funded by Osama bin Laden’s organization. This is a far more nuanced position than Trump’s regarding immigration. I’ve yet to hear Trump say anything positive about Mexican immigrants, legal or not. If you have a cite to contrary please let me know, I’d like to think the PotUS is not scapegoating an entire nation.

I’ve read about the Tulsa race riots and the Zoot Suit riots of LA and thought thank goodness we as a nation have finally moved past that ugliness. Then…

My God.

My. God.

I denied that they wanted to arrest them all for Mollie Tibbett’s murder, IIRC, or in your phrasing “for a crime”. But that’s not what Larry Borgia said. He wasn’t talking about “a crime” (singular) he said “there will be some rapists and murderers”. That’s multiple crimes.

“And some, I assume, are good people.”

Do you believe all ten million Mexicans living in this country are potential rapists and/or murderers?

“potential”? I don’t know. I suspect that no more than a handful per 100,000 will end up committing such a serious crime as rape / murder. If we could better identify this handful before we end up with more Mollie Tibbetts, I’d be delighted. We don’t appear to be capable of doing that.

@Little Nemo,

If I gave you a big bowl filled with ten million Skittles and told you that only 1,000 or so contained a lethal poison, but you couldn’t distinguish them from the other Skittles, how many would you eat?

Why would you have an expectation that TPTB would be able to pick out potential offenders in any population?

Serious question.

I don’t.

So…what do you suggest then? What would delight you?

On the immigration front? Adopting a system more like Canada’s would be an improvement, I think. I’d probably be “delighted” if we could accomplish that.

What’s the Canadian system?

basically, rank applicants based on education, language proficiency, work experience, and job offer.

Isn’t that how the US vets applicants for formal immigration already?

Ohhh, of course, you’re talking about keeping out the brown-skinned folk who swim across the Rio Grande seeking asylum. Yeah, gotta keep them out, right?

Gotcha.

Oh my god we’re doing this again. FWIW this response still applies in full, and this analogy is still incredibly awful.

No, most are just moving here for a chance at a decent job. Is that our fault or there home countries?

That’s a problem for any society - no one has a good way of predicting that small percentage of bad apples in the barrel, or picking them out of a crowd easily after the fact. I wish we did, it would be a better world for everyone.

FBI

Archive of Serious Crimes Committed by Illegal Aliens
9 homicides, 3 of which appear to be American citizens(sparse details), the others were against other immigrants or gang violence.

So by your logic, the entire population of the US should be incarcerated as a precaution.
