For some reason, the last paragraph rubs me the wrong way:
Well, they may go to great lengths to avenge his death, but I don’t see a lot of effort described in the article to do anything for him while he was alive, namely separate him from his abusive mother.
She was kicked out of two homes (one of them her mother’s) “for the way she treated her son,” but neither of those households were concerned enough to call CPS?
I blame the shortage of easily available medical care and the lack of reasonably priced medications. And the cowardice of people who are aware of abusive parents but lack the guts or concern to make a public outcry. And Dick Cheney.
This inexplicable fact grabbed me, too. How was homelessness supposed to make this self-absorbed woman stop “ignoring the boy and withholding affection”?
Okay, and that raises the question, why do people look for stuff on the Internet to get pissed about? Isn’t there enough crap in their everyday lives to annoy them?
I have never understood that as regards this message board.
