Not sure where to put this, but just when I thought network TV couldn’t sink much lower, a suspected murderer, and former police officer, is looking to take his case to a game show.
FoxNews is reporting that TMZ.com is reporting that Drew Peterson “reps” have approached the Moment of Truth’s producers about taking a polygraph on the air. Of course, TMZ reports that Fox, who airs the show, has no comment, but I found it telling that FoxNews picked up the story.
I don’t really think this is pittable until the day the veracity of this report is established and MoT producers accept the offer, if there really is one. At which point, my disgust with this will increase dramatically.
Please tell me that this can’t happen. Wouldn’t Peterson, who is still a suspect in an ongoing murder investigation, appearing on a game show (even if no money were involved) in which he is, likely, publicly discussing not public details of the case, be detrimental to the investigation?
Despite the fact that our justice system doesn’t allow admissibility of polygraphs because they are notoriously unreliable in detecting guilt, or even truth telling, the general public seems to have bought the deception hook, line, and sinker. Stacy Peterson’s family has reportedly been asking for him to submit to one for quite some time. To what end?
So, what’s the media planning on feeding the sheep if he passes his abbreviated “lie detector” test? On the flip side, are they going to continue to try him in the media if he fails? But, of course. And with more righteous tenacity, no doubt.
The whole thing stinks, I tell you. I can’t be sure who to be most indignant over. I’m still kicking myself for not turning off the TV when House ended and the network spews began. There were so many other reasons to be repulsed by it, but this story really boggles the mind at how incredibly stupid the media, the entertainment industry, and Joe Average are.
