Monday, Monday, da da da dada dada MMP

Taz decided he needed to investigate an almost-full cup of root beer that **FCD **left sitting on an end table. So I got to dig out the carpet steamer for the second time in a week. Rah. Stoopit cat. Because of where the drink spilled, I had to pull the sofa way away from the wall - it’s sitting in the middle of the room and a fan behind it is aimed at the wet carpet. Stoopit cat.

Supper was chickie salad (sans dust) and cuke salad. Quick and easy and not pots or pans to clean. Last of the punkin pie later.

It’s been a good, mostly lazy day.

Trying to diagnose car woes, DH is thinking the fuel pump conked out. Good news is that on our car, that’s a relatively easy replace operation and we can come up with the money for the part. We also live in walking distance of two parts places (I want to go to the slightly farther away one with a green color scheme because I didn’t appreciate their orange competition’s counter guy patronizing me last time I went there).

Still also gotta find more income SOON to keep our address, but his job-hunt relies on having transportation, so the car is the more urgent item right now.

Time to recline. MWAH!!

I get to limp downtown for an x-ray next Monday. I also got a flu spray, so that’s done.

A neighbour has a fucking leafblower going (yes, in the dark, with a porchlight on) and it looks like I’m in the middle of yet another family argument. I have loud music blasting in my headphones to drown out the sounds of both.*

I’ve got to get a new lifestyle.

*Yes, I know I complain about people blasting music in their headphones on the bus, but I figure since I’m in my room, nobody else can hear what I’m blasting.

doggio I’m sure the sidin’ guys enjoyed hearin’ Gordie sing the song of his people.

Midget practice your clarinet in the backyard at three a.m.

That’s a good idea. I’ll turn on their porchlight and take out the clarinet that can play really loud, high, out-of-tune notes. I’ll invite doggio and Gordie over. 3 AM out-of-tune clarinet recital with barking dog accompaniment. Still better-sounding than a leafblower.

Not that I’m a stranger to playing music at odd hours. One time I was trying to play a Quebecois folk song on somebody’s boxwood clarinet outside in the rain at 2 AM. And yes, I was very drunk.

Today, I wish I hadn’t given up alcohol. Must turn to other things, I suppose.

… I’m rambling, aren’t I?

Near the five acres in the woods, an idiot wields his leaf blower in his yard, surrounded by trees and thousands, nay, tens of thousands, of leaves.

Yay, Nuts, and not-so-yay, Emily.

Noise and how we perceive it is an odd thing. I’ve lived several places near busy city streets and, when it’s warm enough, will have my windows open all day and all night. The cars and trucks and fire engines are noisy but they don’t irritate me anywhere near as much as a neighbor playing his television or stereo loud enough for me to hear.* The only thing I can figure is that subconsciously, I believe that I have some control over my neighbor but not all those vehicles passing by. I wonder if there’s been any studies done on this?

Been contemplating dinner. Scrub Jay bought a Costco-sized tub of salmon pate last Sunday. The two of us have made a fair dent in it but there’s still a lot left. It’s tasty so it would be a shame to let it go to waste. Mayhaps I’ll make a sammich out of some with crispy bread-and-butter pickles on the side.

*Actually, I’ve mellowed a bit on this over the last few years. As long as it doesn’t happen past my bedtime, I’m pretty much OK with it. Then again, I haven’t had any neighbors who severely tried my patience like that for some time now.

By G-d, that is brilliant Swampy.

Irk is so slow lately
I may have to pick up another job.

**Rio ** if money was no object I’d be buying lots more stuff.
Sah-son finally finished putting my dresser together. He needed help attaching the mirror so we got that done tonight. Now it is in place where it should be more like where it will fit. Where I want it to be it would be in front of a heat vent so probably not a good idea. It feels weird to have a bigger bedroom.

**Swampy **you may as well go for the bench.
I’d be getting a new tub but since irk is slow I think I’d better hold on to my money until it picks up a bit.

Be sure to do as they do at my work; place all the furniture to heavy to move in front of electrical outlets and network drops.

They were pointing at laughing at him.

Midget, Gordie would love to be your singer.

Running club meets at the brew pub on Thursday night; at the end of the run, they give you a ticket for a free small beer. There’s a big chalkboard on the wall with names/descriptive info of the 8 or 10 beer they currently have on tap. Last week, they had a blonde ale on the list, which I had not tried yet. I walk up to the bar, throw my ticket down & say to the bartender, “Give me a small blonde”…& he did!!!

  • Actually, the latest one I met is a brunette; I know something will come of it, given the circumstances under which I met her.
** Also slihtgly drunke psot :o

I’m sure I can help you with out-of-[del]tuna[/del] tune musical act; I’m an expert at that. :frowning:

Perhaps I can lend Princess Allie, a Siamese mix, to help with vocals.

Up, caffeinated, off to work in da Hood. Gordie and the siding guys can talk to each other in private.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 47 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 66 for the day. Fall returneth to south Jawja. This also means I get to wear a jacket and possibly leave it somewhere.

Looks like quite a chorus has been assembled to assist Midget with her three a.m. backyard clarinet practice.

Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. Oh well, at least 'tis Firday.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Great, now I think I have a UTI starting. I hate you too, body.

What’s a clarinet recital without an accordion accompaniment?? <evil smiley>

My big excitement for today will be taking Higgs to get her nails clipped. Yeah, she loves that. I’m also going to do my first attempt at felting. I knitted and crocheted a couple of shawls out of wool - it was donated, so I felt obligated to use it. I’ll be tossing both in the laundry with a load of towels, then everything will go in the dryer. We shall see how it works. I’ve got 5 more hanks of wool yarn and if this is a success, I’ll use them to make a felted lap robe. We shall see…

I also need to clear a spot in the green bedroom for my spider plants. If I have them in the living room or family room, Taz assumes they’re his personal salad bar and I end up cleaning up puked spider plant parts. No thanks. Instead, I’ll make a spot for them in front of the green room window, which means I need to shove some of the green room detritus under the futon to make room. Try not to envy my exciting day.

One week from today, I’ll be in Ocala, preparing for an early Thanksgiving dinner. rah. That means I get to drive down I-95 again, then drive back. rah. Eight hundred miles. Each way. rah.

Meanwhile, onward into the day! Happy Firday!!

If the chorus needs a few more sections, I know my parents are trying to rehome some of these guys. Add a touch 'o class to the ensemble.

It’s icky Novembery weather here today, wet, windy and ‘orrid. I have securitatin’ irk tonight, though it should be mostly indoors, luckily.
Happy firday all!
