Monday Monkey Post: A Very Monkey MMP

Howdy Y’all! Busy mornin’ checkin’ up on JDD Bro and helpin’ him get it all together what with all the doc appointments, checkups, home health comin’, start of chemo/radiation therapy stuff comin’ up. We got everything on a calendar and I hung around until home health showed up just to make sure everything went ok. Like I told JDD since I am not workin’ right now, I can help with gettin’ stuff started and stuff.

Other than that, lunch with a friend today and yahd werk are on the schedule.

You’re making that up. :dubious::stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I just downloaded about a billion updates from Windows and now facebook and yahoo (my main mail service) aren’t working correctly. Maybe they will miraculously fix themselves before I get back home from my lunch delivery. Right? Right?

I’m having One Of Those Days, although not too bad (mid level verbal and low level visual problems, no shaking; mostly it’s vertigo and things not making sense). Been told to go see the company doc, but what can he do, tell me to have a lie down? So anyway I’m walking slowly and trying not to move my head sideways.

This afternoon’s meeting has been cancelled, FemBoss is having a different one trying to herd the rest of the consultants and their data into being able to give a decent demo; the techies and me (on account of having very little interaction with the rest, not having had any data problems yesterday and being sickie) are excused.

MaleBoss, who is back today after his vacation, just informed me that I look like death warmed over. I’ve congratulated him on having a high Perception rating.

I had a long post yesterday, but my crackberry eated it.

Work is crazy busy and will be until 10/15. Then slow season will kick in, mostly. Speaking of work, it seems we’re doing business in lolcat now. Don’t they teach proofreading in school anymore?

It’s warming up again this week, only now I’m afraid to sleep with the windows open, which means sweltering in the heat. I’m still looking for another place, but I want A/C and a washer/dryer in the unit and they have to allow cats AND I don’t want to pay a lot more than I am now. I think it’s possible, since rents have gone down so much, but I’m still going to have to look for a while.

The murderer was arraigned yesterday, so at least things are moving quickly. Too bad our neighborhood won’t go back to normal that fast.

This morning I had another staff meeting where we were “strongly encouraged” to apply for other jobs, even though there’s still no official news about our fates after 10/15. Sigh. I have three different notifications set up for internal openings, I just emailed the manager of a program I used to work on that recently got resurrected and is hiring, and I’ll start looking outside the company on Tuesday. Have I mentioned “sigh”?

Due to a data compromise somewhere in the universe I have no debit card for the next day or six, and instead of trying to guess how much cash I would need until the new one arrives I decided to try going cash-less (minus the $20 I’ve put aside for this weekend’s poker game, of course :D). For the most part it’s going ok, but I didn’t think through Sunday’s grocery store trip very well and I’m already tired of having turkey or PB&J on Wonder bread for lunch. :frowning: And I miss my daily Diet Pepsi. And I haven’t had any peanut M&M’s in days. It’s rough, I tell ya!

LOL!

Sorry, that really did make me laugh out loud but I couldn’t resist!

He needed to go to Betsytown.

[QUOTE]

I just now figured out which town Betsytown is. After how long of reading it, I just figured it out. Me = SMRT.

Night before last I took two Tylenol PM to help me sleep since I usually have trouble in that department on Monday night. (Mondays are my Sunday.) Yesterday I was still kind of out of it all day. I started getting bad vertigo and Detailed AGM sent me home at 1:30. So I lay on the couch for three hours watching The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. I’d never seen it before and I was mighty impressed. By the time the movie was over I felt steady enough to walk to tarbuck for an overpriced banana-tasting smoothie. At least it didn’t come with a side of attitude like the one I got from the local smoothie shop.

I felt fine this morning, but now I’m getting a bit dizzy again. Next time I have trouble sleeping, I’ll try one of the pills. If this happens again, I’m giving it to Computer Boy so he can laugh as it does nothing for his insomnia. (What is it with computer guys and insomnia?)

Culinary Boy’s calmed down a lot from last week. He’s got a handle on his homework and settling in to his classes. He also has tomorrow off, which he hasn’t stopped crowing about yet. I suspect he’ll probably play Dead Space all day. I do the same thing on my days off except I’m playing Oblivion.

The September Slump is in full swing at work. This will last only until October 1 when The Leafers arrive. This year I plan to walk around downtown on Friday nights talking louldy about how much the Florida Gators suck. I expect to start a few bar fights that way.

Yup. Same place JDD has his vacation house. for both of us.

I, at least, figured out Pirateville on first sight, being a transplanted Yankee and all…

I was just wondering, where’s LiLi?

Passport is on its way. Flights are rebooked for tomorrow night. PT session rescheduled for Friday afternoon.

Urgh…I feel like nava’s cow-worker said she looked. Death warmed up. I know my blood pressure is sky high. The vertigo has really kicked in and the headache is nasty.

Maybes I need some lunch…

Mmmmmm. I just had lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant. A little bit pricey, but definitely worth it!

Also, this morning I noticed my boobs were unraveling. (Alright, it was my bra…)

Pictures? :dubious:

From the “Someone’s Got Some Splainin To Do” department:

We had a long break yesterday afternoon because the network was down. All computers in the entire campus were mere paperweights, unable to connect to anything.

Once everything was sorted out, what happened was that they were moving some CRAC units, aka computer room chillers, in an otherwise empty room. An electrician bumped a wiring box and triggered a large-scale emergency power shutdown of a different and active computer room, knocking all of the network equipment offline. Oopsie!

It took over an hour to get the power controllers stable enough to run the place by generator and several more hours before normal utility power could be restored.

Uh, Bob, did you press one of those big red buttons?

Wasn’t me!

Are there animated gifs, too? And different fonts in different colors???

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I hate powerpoint…

Oh, yeah, home. I’ve got a tree guy coming tomorrow and another one coming Friday, and I’m waiting for the third to call me back and make an appt for next week. Three estimates should be enough, right? I’m so glad **FCD **isn’t insisting he take the trees down himself. I want them down and cut into log-length sections that we can split. Then I want the stumps ground. We can do the clean-up - whatever saves us $$. I’d rather rake it myself and haul it to the dump for $10 where they’ll mulch it up. So we’ll see what they say.

My sister has ordered the crabs for Sunday - I can’t wait. I haven’t had good steamed crabs in years. I also need to ask the birthday girl what kind of cake she wants. And I think I’ll make a fruit tray, so we have something healthy to nosh on.

Beyond that, I’m ready for Firday. Seriously.

{{{mmmms & Annie & Shadow}}}

Had I not been at work posting this morning I would have remembered to do this. Behold the September Slump.

Some people just can’t resist The Red Button!

We just finished dindin. Leftovers from last night. In a bit Ima go do yahd werk finally.

Life at da cave is all about the excitement!

Haven’t kept up this week. Hugs and chocolate for everyone.

So, I am in the UK, and was supposed to be on my way back to Israel this evening.

Well, I ended up having to stay in the UK for another day. At the last minute (almost literally - I ended up paying for my ride to the airport, which I didn’t take! Or rather, the company will end up paying for it.)
And then I had to find myself an hotel. And pay for it. And I’ll have to wait for the company to pay me back for this as well…

And of course, big fight with my wife, who was rightfully pissed…

Oh, and I’m pretty much still preparing for tomorrow… at 11 PM here.

In other words, it has been quite a day…

Have not read, have no idea what’s going on, sorry… :frowning: Just had to vent.

Y’all don’t need to worry about me. It appears Earl will honk and wave at Cottonfield County as it zooms up the east coast. Portsmouth, VA, where I work is another matter…

Jealous! I’m trying to lose a bit of weight (which I can’t believe I’m saying) and thus I get no cookies.

I decided in college that powerpoint is against my religion. Any time I was supposed to do a presentation I did it as a webpage.

I got my ebay package from Japan. Anybody want to guess what it was?

A bra! Specifically a bra designed for kimono. It makes your boobies flat. And it actually gives me cleavage.
