Money well spent

Last year, I decided to go back to school and I thus just started the second year of my master’s. (School starts in April in Japan.)

When I paid my tuition last year I had a little flicker of doubt; was I wasting my hard-earned (well, kind of…) savings on something that would lead nowhere?

After having spent one year here, there was no such doubt when I paid for my third semester’s tuition this week.

There is no doubt that the knowledge and skills I have acquired this past year are worth, in the long and not so long run, much, much more than the amount of money I’ve been sending to Gifu prefecture.

So I’m wondering, what would you consider to be the best investment you’ve ever made? Why?

Flannel lined bluejeans. I live where it is cold.

Very much like you, it was my college education. However, I do not have a master’s. But it took me from just above minimum wage to a very-well paying job - and a job that I mostly like.

College without a doubt.
Followed very closely by the best daycare and schools for my daughter we could find (and then my new stereo equipment - man I love that stuff ;)).

My DVD player. We use it constantly. Followed by my DSL.
