Monopoly Tokens

In this staff report the origin of the monopoly tokens is explained.

I just wanted to say: NO FAIR! In the German edition, we only get 4 rather lame plastic pins in different colors.

What is it like in other countries? Do you get common American household items or plastic stuff?

It must be a response to the high protective taffics or the subsidies on American goods.

The foreign governments are taking action by charging incredibly high tarriffs on common American household items like irons, wheelbarrows and thimbles.

In case anyone was wondering, the candlestick Ken refered to comes from the board game “Clue”. I like to use that token in Monopoly as well.

That’s funny. I don’t have any of those in my garage-sale version of Monopoly. I have, let’s see, a little wind-up monkey with cymbals, a Bob Dole campaign pin, a little Eiffel Tower souvenir, a Star Wars pog, an F tile from Scrabble, the blue spaceship from Solarquest, the yellow cube from Pictionary, a penny, a 100 lire piece, and a Lego man without a head. I always assumed these were the pieces that came with the game…

Which in DemonSpawn’s home country of Germany would be referred to as Cluedo (pronounced clue-aid-oh). I have no idea why, but most of Europe-including, I believe, the game’s home country of Great Britain-calls it this.

Interestingly Ken said he prefers the candlestick. But WHOM does he use it on? :0

Also the question of why the other pieces were retried were not addressed
