monsters coming out of tv sets; bizarre horror film

Back when I was much younger, I saw the preview for a horror film that I think may have come out some time during the early 90s, late 80s. The basic premise of the film was that of monsters coming out of tv sets and attacking the viewers. I don’t remember much from the previews except two scenes. One was of a monster that looked a little something like Blanca from the Street Fighter games, coming out of a tv set towards the audience. But it was the other clip that I found much more disturbing. A thin blue monster, partially coming out of a tv set, has his hand raised in front of a young man. We only see him from the waist down, when suddenly, the monster pulls down his pants revealing…everything. The scene then cuts to the guy looking down in horror. It was by far one of the most disturbing scenes I had ever witnessed, and I was quite surprised that they would feature it in a film, even a horror one. Anyone know what movie this is?

Uhhh…the porn version of Ringu???

Perhaps…Wangu?

Is this you asking the same question a year ago on answers.yahoo ( first thing that came up on Google )? Some answers were given there, if you never went back and checked.

It’s years since I’ve seen it, but Videodrome features weird tv stuff… although maybe not the right weird stuff, and it’s from 1983, which is a little early.

Was the Blue Monster Flashing him or Mooning him?

Is this what Dr. Manhattan did on his off days?

Besides The Ring (and, presumably the Japanese original Ringu that I haven’t seen) the only movies I can think of where something comes out of the TV screen are the Time Travelers from 1964 (The Time Travelers (1964) - IMDb ) and Flower Drum Song (1961 – Flower Drum Song (1961) - IMDb ). I don’t recall a scene like that in either of those 60s monies.

I am wondering if the OP is remembering a dream they had, and is conflating this with a vague memory of a movie.

Just way too many possible movies. For example I just saw TerrorVision recently on cable. The usual monsters coming out of a TV set via a satellite dish. Also answers the question: “Whatever became of Alejandro Rey?”

ftg,

I came here to suggest Terrorvision.

And Alejandro Rey died in 1987, at least according to wikipedia

Could it be The Video Dead? If you have MGM-HD, then it will be on November 1.
