Monsters in trash cans (kids' book)

Can anyone help me identify a children’s picture book I’m trying to remember?

It was for very young age groups, probably around 5-8 years. I would think published sometime in the '80s, possibly earlier. There were a bunch of grumpy monsters living in trash cans. The title was The [something]ies - Baddies, Uglies, some negative adjective describing them, but not those ones, something in that general direction though. That’s all I remember.

Any ideas?

Dropping by to answer my own question for posterity. It finally came to me today, a year later haha. The Meanies by New Zealand author Joy Cowley, first published 1983.
