Monthly wedding remembrance

What do you call the day of the month on which you were married, when it recurs each month? When the month matches the month you were married, it’s an anniversary, but what is it the other 11 months of the year? Monthaversary? Mensaversary? Any other ideas? We celebrate this each month, but don’t know what to call it!

Good question! I just got married in June, so we’re struggling with this same problem. So far our solution (and a weak one it is) is to say “Five Month Anniversary”. General usage seems to back this up.

Yeesh! This is ridiculous! “Monthaversary” indeed. And who is this “we”, as in “we celebrate this each month”? Of course, it’s the female in the relationship who’s pressuring the male to put up with this crap. Guys, you need to put your foot down! Don’t accept anything except a true anniversary, once a year.

And it goes without saying, only one anniversary allowed. If you’re married, clebrate that, and not also the anniversary of your first date, first sexual experience, engagement, etc.

Men of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your chains!

female agreeing with ** scratch1300**.

Call it “Tuesday” if that’s the right day…

If you must have a name for it, I think mensiversary (note spelling) is analogous to anniversary. This site has several other suggestions, such as “monthfest” and “lunaversary”. I think “loonie-versary” is most appropriate, given the circumstances.

I’d be happy if he just remembered our anniversary… well, and my birthday… is that asking too much??
<deep sad sigh>

My brand-new husband does that for us, and it was NOT my idea. He’s brought it up every month, and cooked a nice dinner or given me a backrub or some such. Men can be romantic, too, and sometimes it’s even voluntary! It probably won’t last forever, but when your wedding was as fun as ours (and maybe RexKatWA’s) you’d have fun remembering it, too. So there.

Anyway, we just say “happy ____ month anniversary.” No word for it.

I would call it idiocy … but my wife would slap me if I said that outloud.

In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating an anniversary every month (or whatever else you’d like to celebrate). I personally would just call it your 2-month, 8-month, 2 years and 5-month anniversary . . . whatever. And congratulations on being happy enough to want to celebrate that often.

What a coincedence, today is my two-month menseversary.
