Monty, is it normal procedure for you to question other Doper’s integrity or do you just have a crush on Angkins? You come into MPSIMS with your panties all wrapped up around your balls (if you have any)trying to destroy the credibility of a wonderful, new poster that always has posted from the heart. What the fuck is your problem??? This is besides the point that the OP was in MPSIMS, and What if it was just a story? I know it isn’t, after speaking with Angkins, but did that OP hit a sore spot with you? If you like to drive around jerking off, that’s your personal buisiness, don’t try to hurt other posters because they take offense to it! I have one last thing to say Monty, FUCK OFF and chill the fuck out!
Kiss off, Demo. Your pal posted a falsehood (nice enough story, though) and asserted it to be true. It’s obviously false and her follow-ons to that story are also false.
Mechanics don’t routinely test drive around town someone else’s vehicle. And they certainly don’t routinely test drive in a drive-thru. Accidents and damages suits would skyrocket their insurance costs.
Somebody else posted that “missing day” story “from the heart.” Doesn’t make it any the less false.
Monty, what the fuck? Why would she lie? What about the story is unbelievable? Jesus on a pogostick, be quiet and stay out of MPSIMS if you take a story like that to the heart and attempt to prove it false.
I sold my soul to Satan for a dollar. I got it in the mail.
Monty, when did you become the resident expert on what goes on in garages? Last time I checked, “Cricket, Go, Chess, Shogi, Foreign Language Study, Theology” didn’t cut it. Your rambling, incoherent dissection of Angkins post certainly didn’t reveal any proofs that we should believe the post was a falsehood. You try to say that the police won’t just “put a scare into” someone? It happens all the time. If this is just a fool who screwed up once, it can be very effective to “scare” him and let him know this is not right. If something similar happens, this original offense will be on record, without charges, but the report will be there. Your “finely focused dissection” contained so many accusations that were based on nothing in the OP!
-Where did she ever say that the employee recanted her story?
-No, everyone doesn’t check the mileage after their car has been in the shop. Why should they? Are you normally so paranoid that you think your mechanic is joyriding around in your car?
Thanks for telling us what everyone does. Again, it must be nice to know what everyone else thinks…
Are you clairvoyant? Is what Angie posted an impossibility?
Use your brains. The most you could possibly say is that the situation, in YOUR opinion, is unlikely. Had you said that in the first place, no one would have had a problem with it.
Sorry, Monty, but the mechanics who work on my truck most of the time routinely drive it before and after working on it. Sometimes they have to drive it before the work because my explanations are rather incoherent – what I don’t know about mechanics would fill the Rose Bowl and Wembly Stadium – and they need to determine the exact problem. They often drive it after repairs to check their work.
I am glad they care enough to do this, and I, for one, have no objections to a mechanic test-driving my truck for a few miles.
Your arguments against the validity of the OP are meaningless! My point was that you don’t seem to be facing reality here. Wierd shit happens. All the time. This seems to be an attack instead of a valid “weaseling out” of an untruth. Besides the fact that your attack was posted in a forum where it was not merited, you seem to be “on the warpath”. What’s going on? Your last post stated,
This, in light of all the people who have stated that it is perfectly reasonable for a mechanic to take a car on a test drive. Obviously, this person was on more than a “test drive”, but why is this so hard to believe? I see that you are in Monterey, CA. I’m a CA native as well, and, if you don’t see this kind of thing happening all the time around here, you must not be paying attention. Wake up and smell the donuts Monty…
I just went back and read the entire “Family Men Don’t Masturbate” thread. Monty, I think you owe Angkins an apology. I didn’t see anything in the OP that was indicative of lying, and weird stuff like that happens all the time.
I live near Bloomington, Ind., and the local newspaper regularly reports complaints about perverts diddling themselves in front of others, usually young women. Therefore, I find Angekin’s story eminently believeable. I also think the way you jumped on her was unjustified.
yo weirddave…the profile states feb of 99 (how that’s possible I don’t know as far as I can tell the SDMB started in March of 99 not Feb of 99 but then again I haven’t been around long enough to determine this.)
As for the rest of this flame, Monty, it is highly possible that something like that happened. Like all mechanics are angels of society that they wouldn’t dare joy ride (pun intended) in a customers vehicle.
Regardless if the post was true or not, the post was brought up in MPSIMS, thereby general light heartedness should be considered when posting. If you had a beef about it, start a beef here then link to it there.
The board was opened to the public in March last year – I think it was Eldest Son’s birthday, March 11. SDStaff had tested the board for some weeks prior thereto, and thus had early registration dates. Monty is/was (I don’t know which) SDStaff.
Monty-- You must lead a pretty sad life if you felt the need to ‘tear to shreds’ (which you did very weakly- what’s this crap about defamation of character, and you haven’t backed up your claim about mechanics not test driving cars) Ang’s story. I, and many others, see nothing incredible with her account. Sure, she might not have been thorough in describing it, but she got the point of the story across. The only thing you did was to show us your pathetic life. While I usually do not get involved in these affairs, you crossed the line, and even though I don’t know angkins, I feel you owe her an apology. There’s a whole big world out there, and this is what you do with your time?
You’re wrong, Monty. Flat wrong. As everyone but you seems to be thoroughly aware, mechanics most definitely “routinely test drive” the cars they’ve been working on. Happens all the time. How the hell else can they check the work they’ve done? (Are you blond, Monty?)
But you can’t exactly take it back now, can you? After all, you’ve made such a horse’s ass of yourself over this silly thing, insisting that the OP is a lying sack of shit and that you KNOW this for a fact… Admitting your grevious error (and it really was, Monty - you were WAY over the line), and apologizing for your assholiness will NEVER happen now, will it? Because you burly (brainless) hardcases in the military are ALWAYS right, aren’t you Monty? Huh? Huh? Isn’t that so? And any lowlife scumbag that isn’t in the service is a completely worthless lying, prevaricating moron, right, Monty? Right? Am I right?
FYI y’all - Monty’s been around the SD for years (old AOL boards), though manny of you may not know it. And FWIW, he’s always been rather “I know everything” about everything. I don’t suppose he’ll ever change. I suggest you let him shoot himself in his own foot a little more - some portions are actually comical.

“Not everybody does it, but everybody should.”
How dare you call the Air Force big and burly?!?!?! Thats a disgrace to the services that actually work and have standards!
(ducking bottles right and left)
The UL is only the story BTW. Mechanics often do test drive vehicles, as do VALETS. Its part of the “diagnosing process” as doctors do for bodies, you must see or hear first hand whats wrong to fix it.
