I’ve been lurking on this thread for quite some time. I meant to post a while ago but frankly decided to stay in the car, lock the doors and wait for Cujo to take a nap before taking a baseball to his shit logic.
The crux of this whole shitstorm is summed up by ambushed at the front of this thread:
So according to you, Monty lied because he quoted you in General Question, which is a forum for factual answers. You decide in the thread to use the semi-word “gratifica…” and expect Monty and the whole SDMB community to know it’s a joke. YOU have the responsibility to present facts (and if you have to make jokes, don’t expect everyone to catch on to your humor especially when it’s not followed by a wink, a “j/k” , only joking, IMHO et al)
What it comes down to is you are debasing someone’s belief system by insinuating “gratifica…”. I’m an atheist, my opinion of Mormonism isn’t much different from most other organized religions. However, if you choose to make fun of someone’s religion, even as a joke, you should expect to be called on it. You were.
Now you’re bouncing off the forum walls like Woody Woodpecker on crack and trying to draw asinine lines in the sand. Admonishing anyone that disagrees with you as a liar and praising anyone that comes close to agreeing with you. I feel sorry for anyone that would think about kowtowing to that kind of bullshit and for that sir, you are the biggest asshole, you’d have to be to get your head and shoulders that far up there.

The absurdity of this thread, Jeff, is that Monty began a Pit-ting with a complete falsehood enclosed. A falsehood he has yet to acknowledge or deal with directly. Instead, a collective huddle formed here to draw attention away from the issue at hand, which was Monty’s erroneous evaluation and distortion of what was written. His personal attacks/mocking and attacks/mocking of others here are nothing more than a device to draw attention away from a situation that Monty himself began in his “sharp tacks” pit thread. It is richly entertaining and ironic to watch so many people slobber and stumble all over themselves in a dedicated effort to wag the dog while calling other people…“loon’s”. Indeed.

Sheerdee Light can I ask what brought you to the SDMB? Have you been a long time reader of the column or did some web search bring you here? I did a web search on Schrodinger’s Cat and one of the returns was to a thread here. It was nice to find this place because I didn’t know the SD had a web presence, and I had read the column and books when I had the chance for years. So what brought you here?

Having lurked here for some time now, mainly in GD and here in the Pit for comic relief, I’ve seen valid and viable discussions take place and posters here come to the aid of one whose anonymous email friend threatened suicide. I’ve seen a side splitting comments here in the Pit (“Chasing my own tail and biting it off!”) but I’ve not witnessed such a massive evasionary effort as that which has taken place on this thread.
Monty, began this current pit series by posting his “sharp tack” comment. ambush simply had the courage to isolate the misevaluation enclosed in that post. Did it escape everyone’s attention that the approximately 8-10 valid and informative comments made by aurelian and others on Monty’s “tack” thread acknowledging the correctness and accuracy of ambushes main points on the issue of sexual abuse and misconduct in the LDS Church remained unattended by Monty, while 200+ posts on this thread were devoted to shutting ambush up?
Who is biting whom here? Monty’s evasionary tactics were thoroughly deserving of the ridicule in my comments. Monty isn’t interested in correctness, nor truth, nor forthrightness. Monty is interested in covering Monty’s own butt.
And what was this thread’s response to my calling Monty on his own bullshit? Sheerdee Light must be someone else. Sheerdee Light must be a “loon”, Sheerdee Light isn’t using the quote feature! We can’t “read” Sheerdee Light’s posts! Really? Hell’s bell’s, you had no trouble replying to them! Do you see what silly asses you are? Hell, I’d bite my own ass before I’d allow conform to your petty drivel or take any of you seriously.
Embedded in this thread, are the comments of rational and honest thinkers. They are surrounded by slobbering evasion, but they are there. They have gone unattended (but not unnoticed) just as those made by aurelian and others on the “sharp tack” thread. Hopefully, the issues will be resurrected and dealt with seriously and accurately on this board again, at some point. Sexual abuse and misconduct are serious offenses. The resources and comments supplied on this thread alone, are valid and accurate in their disclosure. Dodging and misdirecting the discussions of sexual abuse and misconduct is a slap in the face to every victim and their family. Those who turn a blind eye to the seriousness of the issue on the table are of the same ilk as those who would “shoot the messenger” delivering the facts.

No, Ambushed had the COWARDICE to puss out of Monty’s thread and start his own, where the evidence was NOT conveniently laid out to shatter his delusions.

If I may be brutally honest, my first impression of Sheerdee was “sock!” Not ambushed’s but perhaps one of Monty’s other rabid pets. Why? The refusal to use the quote function can be seen as trying too hard to pass oneself off as a newbie. The fact that Sheerdee has yet to post anywhere else here other than this Monty-centric thread hasn’t done anything to improve my opinion. Then there’s (IMO) something not commonly seen outside of troublemakers: the hidden email address.
I don’t make a habit of crying “sock” or “troll” but when I do so it’s usually off-board, like a good little Doper. Would be nice if I’m wrong for a change, not that my opinion matters much. I’m obvously no Mod but then again I’m no ordinary Doper either.
have you noticed ambushed has not posted in over 3 days? Maybe the good little girl has finally quieted down…

I noted the qualifiers (“IMO”, “Something not commonly seen”), but still would hate to see that be one of the things to look for.
there’s any number of legitimate reasons to not post an email address here. I removed mine from my profile almost immediately - the first time I attacted some verbally agressive attention. Never put it back in. Because I know why I did it, I’ve never even blinked twice at some one else removing it. This is an enormous BB, with wide readership, I completely understand some one choosing to opt out of allowing anyone who reads/lurks/ posts here emailing their innermost thoughts and feelings.
