A little hard to swallow.
I wanted to pop in and say that Ryle Dup has it right about that previous thread that ambushed alluded to. (And I appreciate Ryle Dup’s post on the matter.) Ambushed has completely warped the account of what that thread is about, and has never once behaved in anyway closely resembling rational. Ambushed has flatly (yes, I’ll dare to use the word) LIED about my stance on that thread. But will we ever hear him admit that? No. He’s too busy accusing everyone else of lying, and too busy using that colored text.
That prior thread was already dying on the vine when ambushed started in on it, so most of you haven’t read it. (And it ended up as a nightmare anyway.) My opinion of ambushed was pretty well formed then, and he’s completely cemented my opinion now.
And, for the record, I’ll repeat: He has lied, flagrantly, blatantly, bald-faced lied, and yet he comes here and does more of it; all the while acting as if he is the put-upon victim on all counts. Whatever case he was trying to make has been lost in the hysterics, colored text, and (for me, anyway) his past history of blatantly lying. So there you go. That’s my take on it.

Sheerdee, you go back and read what I wrote right here and you will see that I reported only my experience. I did not speculate as to the mindset of the bishops who interviewed me. Nothing in what I wrote indicates that any of my bishops were “crossing the line of good judgement”. I would say that, given the nature of their questions and the wording and order in which they were asked, they were asking me a standard list of memorized questions for a teenager at the time. Chances are that that list of questions has changed since then.
That’s not the point though. the point is that I didn’t say that “some Mormon Bishops (not all) are indeed guilty of crossing the line of good judgement and cleanliness during TR Interviews”.
I said that the mormon church has altered the focus of some of their teachings in order to present a more ‘mainstream’ appearance and that they no longer pride themselves on being ‘a peculiar people’ like they used to. You’re putting words in my mouth and that’s starting to piss me off.

Wow! Another honest poster here! That’s two so far. It’s so heartening to know that some people really can be dispassionate and honest and evaluate evidence fairly.
As for your closing suggestion, you’re probably right. But running away from a fight – especially such an uneven one, such as truth vs. liars and gang-bangers – is something that I just can’t do. I sincerely appreciate and respect your advice, and I may well regret it, but I’m sticking this out.

My apologies! You are most certainly correct and I was most assuredly wrong and did, infact, misrepresent what you wrote! You never referred to Bishop interviews in your post on this thread. You did however, refer to attitudes towards homosexuality being regarded as a mental disease, and I should have qualified my thoughts with that quote and appropriate comments. Please accept my sincere apology.
