monty2_2001, kindly go back to lurking

You registered in February 2001, yet didn’t make a single post until today, when you splurged and posted two. This one, and here.

Turns out, monty2, that lurking was the right call for you. Kindly go back to it, you bigoted freak.

Sua

Hey, I support the bigoted freak!

Just kidding.

Bryan, do you support his right to bigotry, or his right to freakdom?

If you’re supporting his right to bigotry, well, you may have a point. Skokie, the ACLU, and “defend to the death your right to say it” and all that.

If, however, you are defending his right to freakdom, we’re going to have words. Freakdom is the exclusive domain of a certain girl, the kind you don’t bring home to mother.

Sua

For those too lazy to click the links, the first thread is asking “Could Allah be Satan”, the second one is asking “Could the Qu’ran be a hoax.” This is what he had to say in each thread:

Nothing more, just one-sentence posts saying Islam is evil.

What a bigoted piece of shit.

Hey, Sua -

You know I love you and all, but let’s not be disrespecting freaks, please.

that’s freak extraordinare to you, Bubba*

[small]and not a Ric James freak, neither. Nyaah[/small]

…And calling Mormonism silly (although, given the underwear they have, it kinda is)…

Durn right, why tar freaks by association?
I’ll vote for “bigoted turd”.

But think of it, Jack. Those of us who do wear the “silly underwear” (not me, yet) will have at least some extra protection from the tar!

BTW, thanks Sua.

The rest of y’all might enjoy my comment in response to the “irrelevent” [sic] comment.

Bet that username with 2001 in it seemed quite once upon a time…

Bet that username with 2001 in it seemed cute once upon a time…

SisterCoyote, you misunderstand. Freaks are called to a higher mission in this life. Accordingly, they should be held to a higher standard. A bigoted freak is not only a bigot, but by their beliefs impugn the sacred order that is freakdom.

Sua

P.S. Monty, any time. The respect and tolerance that you have demonstrated on these boards for beliefs other than your own (obviously strongly) held ones are admirable.

[sub]Now that I’ve kissed your ass, you got an extra wife for me[/sub] D&R

Monty2_2001 's two sentences are unenlightened opinions without facts to back them up.

For argument sake, let’s say he read this article on abcnews.com.

If the report is correct; “Islamic militants were plotting an attack on a northern Italian church that has been the subject of protests by Muslims in the past” and that the “Vatican refuses to remove the fresco by Giovanni da Modena” (that depicts Mohammed being devoured by demons in Hell).

With regards to his “islam is an evil religion” quote;
If Mohammed (the principle prophet of Islam) can continue to be depicted as evil (a position “endorsed” by the RCC) either the Vatican is as bigoted in their actions as monty_2 is in his words or the Islamic militants caught planning an attack on a church are too sensitive, going so far as to use violent means to squelch opposing / derogatory viewpoints.

A quick look around the world today:
Preachers calling Mohammed a pedophile.
Buddhist statues destroyed in Afghanistan.
Synagogues burning in Western Europe.
Imams picking fights with Hindus, Christians and Jews.
But most sickening: Bombs exploding, blood spilling everywhere.
etc.,
etc.,
etc.
and his second quote “The koran is as silly and irrelevent to the modern world as Joseph Smith’s writings” could just be a general disgust of all religions.
By lumping 2 faiths together, he could very well be expressing an abrasive version of: “A pox on all your religious houses, I’m fed up with all the inter-faith fighting and killing…how many more innocent people have to die in the name of intolerance?” which, in my opinion isn’t bigoted or freakish.

Sua: Heck, I don’t even have a wife for me yet!

I really don’t see how Islam gets to be an evil religion, let alone THE Evil Religion [sup]TM[/sup]. No human sacrifice, no burning babies to Moloch, no ripping out hearts and showing them to you. Hell, Muslims don’t even open doorways to the Dark Between the Stars wherein dwells Shub-Niggurath, the Goat of a Thousand Young!

Shoot, what’s so evil about 1) declaring there is no God but God and Mohammed is His prophet; 2) praying five times a day; 3) making a pilgrimage to Makkah at least once in one’s life; 4) giving alms to the poor; and 5) fasting during Ramadan? Sorry,
but Islam is nowhere near as evil as the Reformed Cultists of the Ichor God, Bel-Shammaroth,

or the most dread, infernal, Satanic cult that ever offered virgins to the Great Old Ones…

…the Presbyterians!!! (Don’t ask!)

Hey, I resemble that remark!

::shudder:: Whatever you do, don’t look in the mirror and say “Presbyterians” three times. They’ll come for you.

Sua

Two things:

First - I forgot to thank Sua for this:

I’m fascinated by the religious experience of humanity, Sua. I also recognize the possibility that I may be willfully deluding myself by holding to my belief system. I hope that I do live up to this characterization of me you’ve made.

Second - Out of this mess with the current lambasted poster, the one who’ll be injured the most on this board will probably be MONTY2. (S)he’s posted on occasion and I’d really hate to see the MIQ’s actions be attributed to poor MONTY2.

p.s. monty2_2001: Next time you decide you’re going to be a flaming, irrational, bigoted disgrace to not only your species, but to the entire planet, if not the entire Solar System, rip off someone else’s username–heck, you’re screwing around with TWO people’s usernames. Better yet: make up one on your own. Even better yet: Don’t be a flaming, irrational, bigoted disgrace to not only your species, but to the entire planet, if not the entire Solar System. In short: Shove it.

Correction:

Should read:

OK, now I think that monty2’s posts have been absolutely unhelpful in any way, as they are oneliners with no enlightening content whatsoever. I don’t agree with his likely unexpressed opinions. That said, I think the two sentences of his contribution don’t necessarily reveal all that much about him, let alone whether or not he is a bigot:

First off, this one in the “could Allah be Satan” thread…

Ok, here he says two things. First he says that Allah could be Satan. Now I’m an atheist, but I suppose that if there were an omnipotent god and yet still somehow there was another supernatural being with the power to do evil, that this being might deceive us in any number of ways. Strictly speaking, there’s no real logical reason, having postulated both those beings and their apparent behaviour and relationship, that Satan could not have influenced various people and writings to present himself as a deity named “Allah”. I don’t see why that would be the case, and Occam’s Razor would be screaming about unnecessary entities, but it still could be the case.

He also says that Islam is an evil religion. Well, without defining evil, that’s really a non-statement. As an atheist, I might think it’s evil to delude people into believing in the supernatural. I don’t think that’s evil, since I don’t believe in evil, but if I did think that way I might come to the conclusion that Islam (along with all religions) were evil.

Here he speaks on the lack of value in a religious text:

There are a whole bunch of writings that I would describe as “silly and irrelevant to the modern world”. I think I’d start with Samuel Johnson’s literary criticisms, the collective works of Erasmus, anything ever written by Bishop Berkeley, and the scripts for the TV show “Father Knows Best.” It’s commonly posited that the rules and guidelines sections of religious writings are time-place specific, and that they offer little in the modern world. That’s not necessarily a hateful belief. Of course, however filled with untruths and ridiculous superstition I may believe these texts are, they are always relevent to the people who believe the world is the way these books present them.

So, in the most favorable light, monty2 has expressed:
1.) a modified skepticist worldview with the Cartesian evil-deceiver posing as another well-known deity
2.) a non-statement that has no meaning at all until placed within a system of premises defining evil
3.) a statement that is refutable merely by demonstrating one person to whom certain texts are relevant

That’s a pretty weak contribution, but it doesn’t necessitate that he’s a hateful bigot.

Of course he probably is a Christian fundamentalist harboring a deep-seeded hatred for Islam and the LDS church. Still, two sentences of comment aren’t enough to condemn him for certain. I don’t write this as a defense for monty2, rather mostly to amuse myself, and otherwise merely to demonstrate the curiousity of the modern world that we often condemn people for the things they didn’t say because we presume from the things they did say certain things about their beliefs. The very next post he makes will probably invalidate my entire post, but I had fun writing it anyways.

They don’t? None of it?:frowning:

Damn! And I was all set to convert, too…

Now what am I gonna do with all these virgins, burning babies, and human hearts? I’d put them out on the curb, but I’m not sure the garbage men will take them…

(well, maybe I’ll keep the virgins around for a while… )
