Mood Music - Happy Songs

What are your favorite songs that put you in a good mood?

Here are a few of mine:

Perfect Day by Hoku (on the Legally Blonde Soundtrack)

Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves (I hate this song when I am not in a good mood, but when the sun is shining and the world is right, it works.)

Playmate of the Year by Zebrahead

Flying High Again by Ozzy Ozbourne

Beautiful Day by U2

Venus by Bananarama

Higher by Van Halen

Beatiful Girls by Van Halen

Hold On by Triumph
I this question has been addressed ad nauseum, I apologize, but I did not find it doing a search. If you don’t have any feel good songs to share, feel free to criticize my musical taste.

Feelin’ Groovy - Simon and Garfunkel

Build me up buttercup - The foundations

Follow the light - Travis

The Circle
Travellers Tune - both Ocean Colour Scene

Just off the top of my head, but there are many more.

“I Wear My Heart on My Sleeve” (Bryan Ferry) For some reason, this has been popping into my head for the last few days.

Grazing in the Grass - Friends of Distinction

I have never heard of Ocean Color Scene or Friends of Distinction, and while I like Bryan Ferry, I don’t think that I have heard “I wear my heart on my sleeve.” I will have to check all of them out. Any suggestions on which cds are best to get to know Ocean and Friends?

I forgot to mention a few of my very favorites for a happy mood:

Steal My Sunshine by Len
Santaria by Sublime
Alright by Supergrass

“Linus and Lucy” - Vince Guaraldi Trio
“Paloma Blanca” - George Baker Selection
“Mr. Blue Sky” - Electric Light Orchestra

Sunny Day by Abandoned Pools. There’s a little sample in this song, all throughout it, that says “damn right I’ve got the blues.”

Save Yourself by Stabbing Westward. A good song for when you’re pissed at someone.

“Happy Together”-Turtles.

Another Van Halen tune is “I’ll Send the Message in a Bottle.”

“Take a picture” (?) by Filter is good.

Chelsea Morning by Joni Mitchell
Bernadette & Reach Out by The Four Tops
Martha My Dear by The Beatles
Think by Aretha Franklin
Room to Move by John Mayall

serenitynow - I would highly recommend the CD Moseley Shoals by Ocean Colour Scene. Their album Marchin’ Already is good too, but I think Moseley is a better intro. They are a British group, but I have regularly found their CD’s in larger stores in Canada - YMMV.

Mike Oldfield’s "In Dulci Jubilo" is the happiest doggone tune ever recorded. Nobody who hears it can resist tapping their feet and grinning ear to ear. :stuck_out_tongue:

It isn’t Rock— it sounds like Late Medieval or Early Renaissance. At least 500 years old. But it rocks.

Centerfold by the J. Geils Band. I always want to sort of hate it because it’s really a dumb song with stupid lyrics, but the music is so darn happy.

Sweeping the Clouds Away (as sung by Maurice Chevalier)
Beyond the Blue Horizon (as sung by Jeanette MacDonald)
Painting the Clouds with Sunshine (as sung by Al Bowlly)
There’s a Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder (as sung by Al Jolson)

“Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” from Disneyworld
The Mickey Mouse Club March,as played by the Disneyworld Marching Band
“UP!”–Shania Twain(even though the video is crappy I LOVE the song)
“Obsession”–Animotion
“Girls of Summer”–Aerosmith
“Can’t Smile Without You”—Barry Manilow
“And They Dance”–Barry Manilow
IDBB

Come on Eilene… or Ilene, whatever it is.

“Heatwave” by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas will raise the dead and set them to dancing.

So will the Kinks’ “Victoria,” especially the live version.

How about the incredible “Mas Que Nada” by, yes, really, Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66?

The Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Do You Believe in Magic?” is sunniness personified.

Happy songs from the 60s? Too many. No more time. Must go listen.

“Freeze Frame” - J. Geils Band
“The Unicorn”, “The Orange and the Green”, “Lily the Pink”, and “Goodbye Mick and Goodbye Pat” - The Irish Rovers.

“Closer to Fine” - Indigo Girls
“Beercan” - Beck
“Hey Ladies” - Beastie Boys
“Citysong” - Luscious Jackson
“What I Got” - Sublime
“Stagger Lee” - Wilson Pickett

  1. “Jailbreak” - Thin Lizzy
  2. “Don’t Eat the Yellow Snow” - Frank Zappa
  3. “Finest Worksong” - REM
  4. “Banned in DC” - Bad Brains
