Why is Moosehead Ale so hard to find in the United States? Can it be ordered anywhere in the US?
I see it around here in Berkeley. It used to be fairly popular, but seems to have fallen from favor. Probably because of it’s lousy taste.
Canadians are pretty cool, but they’ll drink just about anything,
Peace,
mangeorge (It’s ‘Taunt the Canuks’ day)
Moosehead is a product of Nova Scotia, Canada (I heard that they have also started brewing it in Ontario). Forget the states, it’s nearly impossible to find in western Canada. Much like Coors was 15 years ago. (Those were the days ;))
Used to drink it in South Carolina; never had a problem finding it.
I thought it was pretty good. Not great beer, but it gave me a helluva buzz and usually a hangover no matter what I drank. But, then, compared to a lot of U.S. beer, anything was better.
Um… you sure that mangeorge isn’t French for “eat barley?”
Moosehead is a product of Saint John, New Brunswick. Not Nova Scotia. You can find out where to get it in various States from their website.
I stand corrected. First time I ever saw it was in Halifax. Understandably, my memory of the event is a bit hazy :o
Try http://www.okliquor.ca/online/importbeer.htm , but it may not work in your state (interstate beer shipping is a whole other topic)
That brings up the point of why Coors was supposedly illegal east of the Mississippi, and if the Smokey and the Bandit movies could have been avoided if it had not been.
I used to be able to find it easily in Atlanta - and it was often on sale! That was good because I think it tastes very similar to Heinekin and was often less expensive.
The OP raises an interesting idea: is it the distributors that stop offering it (due to low sales maybe) or is it the Moosehead brewery that can’t meet demand?
Moosehead? My friends and I used to drink it all the time at the Univ. of Maine…
I loved it! Of course there were problems that came along with Moosehead…
Wait for it!
The antlers scratched my thighs!
RUN AWAY!!!
Hey, SOMEONE had to say it!
