Why is everyone talking about Mootopia brand milk from HEB?
Mootopia? Must be where Happy Cow cheese comes from.
I’ve had 3 different people talk to me about Mootopia milk this week. I tried to look at their website, but it’s too strange for me (a cartooney fantasy land). Must be some kind of viral marketing thing.
I surmise it’s a low fat milk that has full fat properties, lower sugar and higher protein. Every person also mentioned how awesome the chocolate milk tasted. Guess I’ll have to do the grunt work here and go examine the labels and taste test the stuff and then post about it here. In the name of science, and all.
They have some product called “Skim Plus” around here that has more protein, fiber and a more “whole milk” texture than regular skim. I think what that actually means is that they thickened it with carageenan (which is a seaweed, hence the fiber) like a McDonald’s milkshake, and supplemented the rest, but I don’t really know. What I DO know is that the radio commercials for it are absolutely incessant.
Actually, I buy Skim Plus (though it’s not Mootopia brand, just what Kroger sells), and the difference is that it’s skim milk plus added non-fat milk solids (which might mean something like powdered milk? I don’t know). I know that we like it every bit as well as 2% milk, it is higher in protein, and at Kroger, at least, it’s the same price as their other skim milk.
NICE TRY, Mootopia marketing department.
(just kidding)
I personally had not even heard of this before. Pretty sure it’s not sold in the groceries around here yet.
It was introduced a few years ago, looks like it didn’t really catch on Check the thread date…
This was bumped by a spammer, so I’m going to lock it. If anyone actually wants to discuss Mootopia, let me know and I’ll reopen.
