Is that for Alliance, too or Horde only?
No idea myself as I have not gone on the PTR yet but assume it would be for both. Somehow.
Wow Insider investigates the patch 5.3 story events:
I’m not one to complain about getting “ganked” when I’m flagged for PvP; when I’m doing PvP quests, and I’m flagged, and I get killed by another player, I shrug, release, run back to my corpse, and continue about my business. I expect it to happen. But today, on the Isle of Thunder, I ran into perhaps the douchiest kind of “PvPer”. You know, the one who lays in wait in a location that makes him virtually unattackable — in this case on the deck of a Sunreaver ship full of elite mobs you’d have to get through first before you could get to him (assuming you even noticed him, since his red nameplate just blends in with the crowd of NPC red nameplates) — and then attacks you while you’re swimming underwater, where, thanks to Blizzard’s defective water-surface camera functionality, you can’t even see where the attack is coming from. And then camps you and kills you two more times. Actually, after he killed me for the second time, he made a show of riding off into the distance until he disappeared from sight, then stayed away long enough to clear his PvP flag. So when he came back the third time I saw no red name and didn’t immediately realize it was him again, and of course since he’s no longer flagged I don’t even get the chance to try getting in the first blow for once
On a different subject, any Alliance players here experienced with the Ogudei Ruins dailies for Operation: Shieldwall? At this point I’ve pretty much decided to just skip those when they’re up. One problem is the overload of randomly patrolling Mogu in what is ostensibly “solo” content, where it’s virtually impossible to finish one fight without having two other random patrols stumble into it while you’re still trying to take down the first one.
Then there’s the quest where you’re supposed to locate and eliminate an “anomaly”. Judging by that round meter in the middle of my screen, I’ve located the correct room, but damned if I can figure out what I’m supposed to do once I’ve found it.
And finally, the “Eviction” quest to kill the Reliquary agents who have allegedly infiltrated the mine. Damned if I can find them anywhere in that place. I’ve been through every room in there and there’s not a singe Horde NPC to be found.
It’s do-able. I hated it the first time too, but if you’re careful it’s not that bad. Two caveats: I did it when a lot of people were doing the same quests (I’m not sure if they still are now that the ToT dailies are up) so there were a lot of others helping with the killing, and windwalker monks are kind of OP so I didn’t have a lot of trouble slogging through even when I caught extra mobs. YMMV depending on gear level and class.
There’s a particular spot you have to find. You can’t see it, but when you reach it you automatically get credit for the quest. IIRC it’s near a wall. Just keep wandering around and watching your meter and you’ll find it eventually.
I’m Horde so I don’t have quite the same experience, but I believe most of the Alliance NPCs are on one level and most of the Horde ones are on the other one. So you will probably have to either go up or down a level (I don’t remember which, but I think it’d be down for you) to get to the Horde NPCs. There are mogu and other quest mobs on both levels.
One of the wooden ramps you use to get down to the level where you kill the Mogu has an offshoot - it’s not wood, it’s dirt, which leads to the Reliquary agents. Maybe try hanging around the wooden ramps and wait for an Alliance peep to come run by you with some NPCs following them trying to kill them, then follow them back once aggro is lost.
And that’s the critical point.
If you’re on the cavern floor looking at the stairs up to the tunnel to the surface (which is lined with Lion’s Landing troopers)… look a little bit to the right of the staircase. It’s a cavern opening that opens to a ramp down into a sub-cavern crawling with Reliquary types.
BTW, that’s also the Horde entry area to the cavern, so be careful about your flag status. Or not. I’m on a PvP server, so I can’t do a damn thing about my PvP flag, so if I die, I die.
ETA: By “cavern floor”, I mean “main cavern floor, looking at the stair case, when you’re not looking back over your shoulder for Mogu bobbsey twins to spawn out of thin air and ambush you”.
Thanks. I’ll wander in there when it’s not the daily location and see if I can scope out that passageway.
Sweetness!
My paladin was at the Shrine of Seven Stars, just about to take a portal to Dalaran to hit the AH, when I remembered I needed some Black Pepper for some cooking. So I flew back to Halfhill, and just as I got there I saw somebody in General say something about “Galleon raid is full”. So what the heck, I flew over there and just jumped into the fight …
and won a Carapace of Crushed Conviction and a Mushan Rider’s Collar!

Which all cheered me up enough that I could momentarily forget my ever-growing, burning hatred for Horde blood DKs…
Huh. I didn’t realize that non-raid participants got a shot at loot, too. I did my first Galleon last night in a raid. If I’d known it was going to be that easy, I may have tried earlier. (No mount or meaningful loot for me, alas, even with the loooong wait for the 40-man to form up and the one wipe because we tried it with one tank too few.) But generally fun.
Yeah. Those guys are d-bags. Especially my orc. ![]()
I’ve been camped enough by gnome DKs enough to realize it’s not the race or the class, it’s the player.
I mean Noblegarden (whatever that means).
Anyone farming eggs?
The cross-realm zone thing is completely hosing it up. It seems that every egg spawn point has at least two toons camped on top if it. Egg “hunting” has become egg “farming”, in the same way that civilization went from hunter/gatherer to agriculture: We used to actively seek out and take the goods where they were, but now we just watch the grass grow until it’s ready to pluck. And in the case of Noblegarden, if we can click faster than the other guy.
I was hoping to farm the mount, but my gather rate last night was less than 1 egg per minute, so there’s no damn way I’m going to farm up to 10 hours to get the 500 eggs for the mount. (Discounting RNG odds of getting the mount in one of the eggs. It could happen, but I don’t bank on it the same way I don’t call buying lotto tickets “my retirement plan”.)
My main has the Noblegarden meta already, so there’s pretty damn little reason to do the thing other than the not-nearly-worth-it mount.
Another meh seasonal event.
I stick to Silvermoon at 3am for this event, which helps immensely.
I have the meta and mount on my main, but I wanted the polymorph tome for my mage. Unfortunately, you have to be lvl 60 to buy it. I’m only 35, so my 100 chocolate eggs are useless. Oh well.
Yeah, they changed Galleon and Sha to be “tap to faction” with 5.2. if your faction has the tag, you can join in and be eligible for loot without being in the raid group. You won’t benefit from any raid healing, but that hasn’t been an issue for me the couple times I’ve done it.
Yeah, but certain classes definitely seem to attract certain kinds of players. There’s a certain kind of person who equates “evil” with “badass”, and those people seem strongly drawn to DKs and warlocks. Especially Horde DKs and warlocks, since those people also see the Horde as the “evil/bad guys”. As a general rule, players of other classes who kill me in world PvP have tended to face me openly before slaughtering me (I suck at PvP), and then go on about their business. I actually had an unflagged Horde warrior encounter me recently while I was in combat doing PvP quests. He waited for me to finish my fight, then waited patiently while I got myself healed up. Then he flagged himself manually (i.e. by selecting it from his menu, not by attacking me), allowing me the opportunity to attack first. Then he kicked my ass. But DKs and warlocks are too “badass” for that nonsense. When I get attacked from behind when I’m in the middle of a fight with three mobs and my health is down to 50%, it’s pretty much a given that it’s a DK or warlock. And when the DK in question has over 500k hit points and is virtually unkillable in 1v1 anyway in Blood spec, and still won’t attack unless you’re in combat and already half dead, and then camps for hours … yeah, what a “badass”.
More “badasses” - two days in a row I’ve arrived at Amberpine Lodge in Grizzly Hills (a mid-70s zone) to find the flight master and other NPCs being slaughtered by … a level 90 DK and level 90 warlock. Surprise.
But yeah, I’ve met decent people who play those classes as well.
Not me. I got the title 2-3 years ago, and that mount isn’t enough to persuade me to participate in the nonsense again.
rofl so I just logged on for raid and got told I’m a sub, not on the actual raid team, and the way the RL was talking it seemed like he was terrified I was going to throw a shitfit. To be honest, I wasn’t even really sure if I wanted to commit anyway, and I’m a grown adult, not some hormonal teenager.
As for Noblegarden, I got the stuff on my main years ago, but I always found it very relaxing and fun to hunt eggs.
AGGHGHGHGH! Working up a worgen druid, got through most of the intensely railroaded starting area and started the Battle of Gilneas City. Finally got almost all the way through THAT crapton of tedium, all the way up to the duel between Sylvanas and Genn, and suddenly…load screen. And I’m all the way back at the beginning where the Gilneans are massed on the bridge.
Bull and shit! I put in a ticket. I’m not going through that pointless maze-run again.
It was all just a dream. A terrible, terrible dream.
See, everything’s OK. You’re still a werewolf and your homeland is still doomed to be ravaged by a zombie apocalypse on steroids.
Good morning, Bright Eyes!
As someone that used to be responsible for setting the raid roster - shitfits are par for the course when somebody is told their sitting. And now I’m in the same boat as you - if I get put on backup for a night or week it’s a bit of a welcomed relief! ![]()
He’s a Druid Night Elf named Waldbrenner and we’re on Lightbringer. Specialty is Damage and we’re currently level 10. We belong to “Order Of The Rik”, and so far, because I know pretty much all of the combat strategies, we’re kicking ass.
Gonna see about buying a tabard. Any tips, advice, etc. would be appreciated!
Thanks

Got my human Death Knight to level 90 yesterday, which got me two new achievements: Double Agent (getting both a Horde and an Alliance character to level 90) and Triple Threat (getting three different classes - Death Knight, Paladin, and Hunter - to level 90).
There might be some tabards in the gbank, but I’m not sure. Since it’s only been me in the guild all this time, and all my toons have tabards, I may have decided I didn’t need to keep any extras around.
