Moral Dilemna? ..Theres a free t.v if you guys respond

Here’s the deal…a couple months ago my brother purchased a very nice t.v from one of those big furniture outlets, we went in and picked up the t.v., we looked around for some sales guy to give our receipt to show we came and picked it up…couldn’t find anyone, so we lugged it thru the store…finally a salesguy stopped and asked to see the receipt said okay, enjoy your new t.v. Today there was a message on the answering machine asking us when we are going to pick up the t.v. Now i’m thinking, come to think of it…the salesguy never did sign the receipt. so what I’m trying to say is…would it be wrong if I went back to this store tomorrow and picked up the t.v?..any replys on this would help ease or make up my mind on this matter…thanks

It would be * ** VERY ** * wrong to go get the T.V.

It would be no better than shoplifting it…but that’s just my opinion.

Any connection between your reality and mine is purely coincidental.

Victimless crime. Who give a crap? No one gets hurt unless you get caught. And it doesn’t sound like you will. I say enjoy your new TVs.

i’m still not sure…

I’d notify the store of their mistake. If they then refuse to believe you, go ahead and get your tv.

But keep in mind they probably have security footage of you lugging your tv out.

If you don’t want it, I do.
Really, I think you should take it.
I have no compunction in taking advantage of a slip-up like that. Where do you live? I’ll come get it this weekend…

“Winners never quit and quitters never win, but those who never win and never quit are idiots.”

does video footage go back 2 months?

Why don’t you try taking the moral high ground on this? It’s sad that this even had to end up being posted.

your right…the t.v would be a constant reminder, I don’t think I would like that…but its so damn tempting

I’m completely with Phobia on this one. Huh? What you are proposing is half a step above stealing. And that’s being generous.

And if you can’t look at the moral aspect, try the economic aspect. The high cost of loss through theft is responsible, at least partly, for some of the high cost of goods.

You did say that this was a high volume retailer, but what if it were a small business owner struggling to stay in business. Would your feelings be different? How about if it were your business?

It’s old, it’s trite, it’s true: Do unto others…

Sorry to preach, but I happen to feel strongly about honesty. And that is what we’re talking about, isn’t it?

I’m back and I’m pissed off

I have to agree with the other ones, 2SexyForMyComputer, this is wrong, wrong, wrong. As Zeb said, this is about honesty. Will you really be able to look at yourself in the mirror if you do this?
As the saying goes: Character is what you are when no one’s around.
And have you given any thought to the poor scmuck who might get fired over this? Is his/her job worth you getting a tv without paying for it?
Listen to your inner voice, it’s already told you what you should do.

Don’t make me come down there.
God

but I just might do it because I hate the companys annoying commercials…i’m gonna have to sleep on this

Do it. it’s their fault for not hiring more competent staff. besides, who actualy beleaves that Right vs. Wrong thing anyway?

My Web Page:SMITE WARNING it may offend you.

Well said. I agree.

Your integrity should be worth a lot more and last a lot longer than a television set.

I can save ye a bit of time with this ‘dilemma’ – instead of goin’ back to the furniture store, just drive directly to the local police station and ask them to fingerprint you. (Bring some hand lotion along – the ink is a bitch to remove.)

This way the store saves the trouble of having you arrested, and society saves the trouble of tracking you down.

When the fuck did the contemplation of theft become a ‘moral dilemma’? Are ye that bankrupt that ye need even ask?

hey eggo…nice site btw…i’m gonna pass on the t.v. don’t know why , but I am…thanks for your replys dopers

Hey 2sexy, try to pretend your child was with you, what lesson would you teach that child?? (You may not have a child, I’m just saying ‘pretend’)

Your actions show the kind of person you really are, if you’re the kind of person who ‘sells’ their character for the price of any kind of merchandise, would you want THAT kind of person as your own dad, mom, friend, or your own child??

Rise to the occasion, no tv is worth what you’re considering.

“It’s hard to avoid reading because ever wheres we go, reading is there.”

Of course you know why, 2Sexy – because it’s the right thing to do. And good for you!

Welcome to the board, btw.

Catrandom

No kidding! I am just completely dismayed and disgusted that anyone would even consider it an option to take something from a store that they didn’t pay for.

Thank goodness the OPer decided to do the right thing. But look at all the other morally bankrupt people who replied here that they’d do it. Thanks for making MY merchandise purchases more expensive, you morons!

[little angel voice] Oh no! Don’t take the TV.

[litlle devil voice] Yeah, you don’t need two TV’s. Tell them you changed your mind and get a refund.
