More Cool Historical Photos

Ha! For some reason, I’m sure I’ve seen that before and I subconsciously thought of it when I posted last…

Why was your grandfather there? What was the occasion?

Thanks, excellent collection of images.

I love that it took exactly one post to correct this.

Notice that, in photo 32, the man poses in a way that suggests that he’s ready to kill and the woman seems to be leaning away from him.

Bill seems to be concealing a similar impression.

Me too, but you gotta admire Italian design.

Looking fabulous, as well (with all respect to this guy you say is your grandfather).

Among my favorites:

“The unbroken seal on King Tut’s tomb.” The thrill of peeling the protective film from the screen of a new electronic device pales in comparison.

“Dismantling of the Berlin Wall in 1989.” Hard to say if there’s more art or journalism.

The photo of the shell-shocked reindeer is impressive, too. Guernica, anyone?

The airplanes are actually Hawker Hurricanes, possibly ex-RAF. The British sent a number of them to the Soviet Union as part of their mutual aid pact.

Never thought I’d say this, but Albert Einstein’s got some sexy gams.

Winston Churchill…not so much.
