More Electoral Glurge

In the spirit of this thread, here’s some more glurge I just received from a co-worker. Who wants to help me explain to her why you can’t exactly compare all the major wars of the past century to the war in Iraq?

Why do all the stupid emails posted in the Pit seem to be coming from Bush supprters?

Can someone please post a stupid email from a Kerry supporter, just so we can feel good that there is a balance of stupidity on both sides?

Clinton… went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent,
So now Republicans care about the French?

He was offered Osama bin Laden’s head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing.

This doesn’t make any sense:
The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but…
It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51 day operation…

We’ve taken Iraq? Really? No. One look at Fallujah will answer that.
We’ve been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.
And we really haven’t found them.

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB!
Just because he got a gold star on his crayon project doesn’t mean anything.

The Military morale is high!
Really? Is that why people are suing the US Government to stay out? OR
Leadership turnover, coupled with manpower, training and morale problems, plagued the Rock Hill-based Army Reserve company that caused an international uproar when up to 18 soldiers refused convoy orders in Iraq Oct. 13, family members of soldiers say

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts.
Ahh… It’s the media. So where did you get your facts here then?

Yes, Germany was just sitting there all innocent and demure… until they declared war on the United States…

There were 2,404,598 deaths in the US from all causes in the year 2000. That’s an average of 6569.94 deaths per day, or 273.7 deaths per hour.

When Osama attacked America in 2001, he killed about 3000 people. That’s fewer people than die in 11 hours on an average day. What’s the big deal about that?

The problem here is that people do this thing where they trot out a library full of facts and lies and half-truths, figuring that no one is going to be able to dispute them, because they have so much information to overwhelm people with. Ann Coulter is one of the current reigning champions of this tactic. The other problem is that as soon as you try to dispute just one of these facts or lies, you get caught up in their quagmire of eternal debate, which isn’t really a debate, but an excuse for them to reinforce their own smugness. So, really, while your co-worker may have a list of arguements for/against something (the Bush administration in this case), they aren’t open for debate or learning something that goes against their convictions, they’ve already made up their mind, and they’re just being a tiresome windbag. The best response is to just ignore them
