More Nine-Commandment Christianity: Dobson's FRC Accuses Daschle of Boosting Saddam!

Seems that the Rev. James Dobson’s group, the Family Research Council, is running ads in South Dakota papers with photos of Sen. Tom Daschle and Saddam Hussein, side by side. The ads accuse Daschle of helping to keep Saddam in power by blocking oil exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Story here; scroll down about 2/3 of the way.

Isn’t that just a wee tad of a stretch, guys?

I mean, if that’s true, then the same could be said for anything that might help keep world crude oil demand and prices high. This would include acts that encourage higher energy consumption, such as supporting low gasoline taxes and low fuel economy requirements for SUVs. Or just buying low-fuel-economy vehicles such as SUVs and trucks.

So I guess practically every American is doing his or her patriotic bit to keep Saddam in power. But the FRC certainly doesn’t couch the issue in those terms.

It may not be an outright lie, but it’s a pretty extreme stretch of the truth. And it certainly amounts to ‘bearing false witness’ against Daschle, IMHO.

Old “Three Gallon” Daschle finnaly went and got made a senator? Who’da thunk it? Man, I remember back at the U., he and “Big S” Hussein and I, we’d go through cases of beer a night. We’d go so fucked up, and then S, I tell ya, he’d get all maudlin about the Kurds, and how he wished he could just give 'em all a big hug, and then Tommy’d talk about keeping crude demand high with a wistful note in his voice.

Those were the days. I know those guys kept in touch, always helpin’ each other out, hooking each other up with women, or political favors and whatnot, but, you know how things go. I got married, kinda dropped out of the scene. Oh well.

So, what’s that you say Saddam’s doing these days?

I am just sick and tired of Democrats demonizing Republicans!! Doesn’t this type of behavior by Democratic operatives just sicken you, december?!

Sua

I’m sickened. Especially since there is clearly no such thing as Republican corruption.
