I’ll be turning 65 in October, and will be eligible for Medicare on September 1. Today I received a Medicare packet in the mail.
I remember watching Elizabeth I’s coronation on tv.

Now that’s old. And prithee how goeth the dayye for thee, Master Orlando?
I am 56, but have had a couple of things happen in the last few months that made me realize that I am starting to “get up there”.
A few months ago, a couple of friends and I were talking about the space program and various related ideas, and one asked me if I was familiar with the comet that hit Jupiter. I told him how cool it was that Jupiter swallowed up a whole comet without hardly missing a beat, and mentioned that it was still cool “even though it only happened two or three years ago”.
The guy looked at me kind of funny and mentioned that it happened back in 1994. I thought he was freaking crazy. I was sure it just happened a few years ago. Nope - 1994.
A month or so earlier, I was at the local supermarket, picking up a few things, and I recognised the song being played on the store PA system. As I went to the not-all-that-young girl at the register, she commented that she liked the song that was playing. As I was taking some cash out of my wallet, I told her “'I’m Telling You Now” by Freddie and The Dreamers, about 1963".
She stopped and looked at me with an odd smaile, and said “Seriously?”
I told her “Yea”, then added that I still had a 45 of it somewhere.
She said “A what?”
I quietly got my groceries and left.
For me it was when the Playmates were born after I’d already been through two cycles of heartbreak.
(Trivia: The average Playmate is 5’6" and has a 36-23-35 figure.)
