More stupid Facebook tricks

I’ve had a couple of long-running private message threads going on with a friend of mine as I’ve been helping him get a web site set up. They’ve been going for a couple of months. I frequently post pictures in these threads, screenshots and such, and links as well. Since yesterday, if my message includes an attachment, a stupid captcha pops up when I hit the reply button.

Facebook has no problem with me posting pictures directly to my profile, or to my groups. But, oh boy, these attachments in a private thread between two people must be spam or bots!

Is anyone else having this problem, know what’s going on, and/or how to fix it? I’d ask the Facebook help department, but… well, you know…

An easy way to get around it is to post it on your wall, but use the lock button (choose Customize… from the drop down) to restrict visibility to only the person you want to see it. I do this when I’m using the sharing feature from other sites.

And the reason for the captcha is that (1) most people when they capture your account send out messages in message and (2) most other people don’t, thus providing a small testing audience to see if the feature drives away customers.
