More tech support needed- page faults

Okay, well, my computer has stopped freezing up. That’s a good thing.

The bad thing is, everything’s now crashing at about 10 minute intervals.

Okay, I’m exagerating. But it seems like 10 minutes doesn’t go by that I don’t get a ‘x program has performed an illegal operation’ fault, forcing me to shut down said program. I’ve copied some of the error messages, and here’s what I’ve got.

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in

Can anyone translate these into what-the-heck-am-I-supposed-to-do-now-speak? Someone told me to re-install windows. Is this my only option? This is happening with -alarming- frequency. HEEEEEEELP!

It could be bad memory chips.

You can check your RAM chips with the free diagnostic software here.

How about trying to delete the registry key as described here?

Disclaimer: mucking with the registry can hose your system. at the very least, save the original setting. Make backups. Call your mother.

Another suggestion:

Rename NVIEW.DLL to NVIEW.DLLSAVE and see if that makes a difference. If you have another copy of NVIEW.DLL you could use that, it could be possible that your version is corrupt.

Okay, I ran a search and found I had more than one copy of nview.dll on my HD. I changed the name of one of the most recent ones (there were two that were identical time / date stamp, and I could apparently only rename one of them). Lord help me. I’m really getting sick of these errors.

ArrrMatey, NVIEW.DLL appears to be a video driver for NVidia cards. You might consider downloading the latest driver appropriate for your video card.

Hope this helps,
Max.

I would definitely say it’s a problem with your graphics drivers, and second what Maxxxie said. You should download new ones. Assuming you have a recent video card, pick Graphics Driver, then Geforce and TNT, then finally your operating system.

It’s an interresting thought, -but-, I wasn’t getting these problems before I -did- download the newest drivers day before yesterday. :< I may just be screwed, but I’d love to find -some- way to get this stuff to work.

You can try:
http://www.google.com/

Input the program message in the box there, in this case,

“module NVIEW.DLL”

Should do. What operating system? anyway, read the web sites that show up for ideas.

Uninstall your video card drivers. Let Windows load the default drivers for your video system.
Then, if that worked, go ahead and load the OLD drivers for your video system.

According to the link I posted, NVIEW.DLL isn’t your video drivers. It’s part of an accessory program that comes with the video drivers, which is what you should disable to stop the crashing.
