You all are making a strong case for me to get satellite radio. I tend to not buy into anything that is a monthly subscription, at least if I can help it.
But I have an hour up and an hour back (nearly) most days and I hate the morning talk shows.
This what the idea morning show dialogue should be:
“You just heard ‘Trash The Rental’ by Sohodolls, and before that was ‘Money on Fire’ by The Ghost Frequency. Up next ‘Not That Big’ by Temposhark and ‘Let’s Dance to Joy Division’ by The Wombats. I’ll be back with the area weather in thirty.”
That it. Unless there’s another terrorist attack in progress, I don’t even want any headlines.
Getting the brain going in the morning is akin to waiting for steam to form in a 5000 gallon coal fired boiler. The fire might be lit, but it’ll be a while before there’s any action.
I can’t stand morning zoo style formats and music doesn’t do anything to wake me up.
We have a decent morning talk show. News, weather, traffic, sports, a local interest story, a little banter between the traffic guy and morning show host. Repeat. After 2 or 3 cycles of that, I’m ready to face humanity.
