What are the mortality rates for the following age groups: 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90-99, and everthing above
If there are any large fluctuations (for example: if you’re much more likely to die at 2 than at 8) please tell those too.
Thanks!
Here is a pdf of the Australian Life Tables 1995-1997.
There was a question about this not too long ago. Look at the table on page 4. The age with the lowest risk of death is about 8-9.
Specifically 2yo - mortality rate is about 0.0010 (likelihood of dying in one year). Compare this with 0.0001 for 8 yo’s. The mortality rate drops as the infant becomes less vulnerable to disease.
Notice that for females there is a slight peak in mortality rate at about 18 yo. A 25 yo female has less likelihood of dying in a year than a 18 yo female.
For Americans, try the US Social Security Administration’s Life Table. Gives the probability of death as well as life expectancy for persons at each age. You’ll notice that the probability of death for infants between birth and the age of one is relatively high, and drops off quite sharply after a person has passed the first year of life. This decline continues (though less dramatically) until the age of ten, at which time it turns around for a fairly sharp rise again until the age of 18 for females and 22 for males. The curve then flattens out slightly before resuming a steady climb (plotted on a logarithmic scale) until the end of the data.
